After the end of slavery, many African Americans began attempting to alter their natural texture of their hair. Using chemical relaxers or hot combs in order to mimic the appearance of straight, European hair.
Many of these methods remain in use. But the cultural movements of the 1960s and 1970s also persuaded more African Americans to begin embracing hairstyles that didn’t require them to transform the texture of their natural hair, such as afros, braids, and locs.
Don't define Black women's beauty by European standards. We need to focus on creating a more inclusive and diverse concept of beauty. Let's start embracing our natural beauty and supporting our brothers and sisters 💋✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

Meet Author Ke'Aunte Tynette out of Massillon, Ohio.
She is the Author of A Positive Life is a Happy Life: Morning Motivation For You and Me. She can be followed on Facebook at Ke'Aunte Tynette and BeYoutifulWeirdoLLC, and
| her book is sold on Barnes and Noble, createspace, Amazon
I asked Ke'Aunte what inspired her to become an author, she said, "I've always written poetry and songs ever since I was 10. I love writing and expressing my feelings on paper. There was a time in my life where I felt like giving up,I felt alone and I had the feeling that I wasn't Good enough because of bad relationships. It took me to deal with different situations for me to say enough is enough. God kept me here for a reason. I am a living testimony. I started writing positive notes to myself each morning to gain my confidence and to love myelf for who I am. As I started on my new journey in life I started helping young women build their confidence. I created a mentoring program called BeYoutiful Weirdo LLC for girls. I shared my positive journal entries with them. I then decided to take my personal notes and create them into a book to help people stay motivated and positive. This book will help everyone have hope and faith in their journey of life.
A Quote She Lives By: "Like water and Light to a flower, We need self-care and knowledge to grow." Ke'Aunte Tynette ✨
