I call this look his “thanks mom, I’m so happy we went running”! 🐶💕 Tuesday’s morning run was COLD! ❄️ At one point I couldn’t FEEL my face or my legs! 😉 The joys of living in Canada means you NEVER really know what tomorrow’s WEATHER will bring! 😅 At least it felt AMAZING to have my run done nice and early! 👟 I also LOVE it because it gives GP some good exercise before he’s home all day! 💁🏼♀️ He doesn’t mind the cold since he came from Norway House, a community 8 hours NORTH of Winnipeg! 🌬

These boots are made for walking... without crutches. I'm not totally finished with my lovely metal sticks, but at least I can take my dog out now! Pre Thanksgiving catch up with an injury update is on the blog!
The sound of his foot steps behind me pushed me to my fastest first mile by 15 seconds!! I made him lead the next 2 miles of our 3 mile loop. He challenged me to keep up. It hurt, but....I dropped a MINUTE and 28 seconds off my time! For a minute during our run I watched his long legs tackle the hills while my short legs struggled. I picked up a couple ways I can improve how I run corners. Days like these I’m thankful I have a Running partner who challenges me even when I don’t want to be challenged. Surround yourself with people who are going to make you better and challenge you each step. If I wasn’t challenged I would have never rocked this run. Who challenges you to be a better person?
I may have gotten drenched and chilly on my run this morning 🌧️🌧️🏃 but this, plus a mocha ☕🍫, has me warmed right back up! Considering a new eating style (read: diet) for the New Year? (You know, because “this time will be different”🤦🏽♀️?). ⠀
#1 - Does it Exclude Foods You Adore?🤔⠀
If it doesn’t allow you to eat foods that you love, why waste your time? How could that possibly be sustainable in the long run?⠀
If you find the “perfect” weight loss plan, and it removes every food that you’ve ever loved, don’t expect to be able to keep it up for long. ⠀
This should be your first red flag that the diet is not going to be sustainable.🚩 ⠀
Any eating plan that helps you to lose weight (preferably from fat), needs to be something that you are going to be able to stick to. So make sure that it allows you to eat foods that you love, in moderation. ⠀
You may be convinced that such a thing is not possible — and that you must be punished for your sins of weight gain — but this is a MUST. If fave foods aren’t included, you will not be able to be consistent. ⠀
Even if you do lose the weight, the second you begin to eat “normal” again (adding back all the things you cut out during your “diet”), it all piles back on (and then some).⠀

Please join us in congratulating Pamela on completing phase 2 of her exercise program!
Phase 2 involves patients who have completed chemotherapy or radiation, and are working towards remission and apparently healthy status. Pamela made incredible changes during her 12- week exercise program including a (-3%) drop in body fat, a (+44.67%) increase in her cardiorespiratory health, a (+41.18%) increase in her muscular endurance, and a (+5.7%) in her flexibility!
Keep up this amazing progress Pamela, exercise is truly medicine!

So, if you saw my stories the other day, you saw I was struggling through a scheduled 3 day rest period. I planned my workouts to fall consecutively last week so Fri-Sun, I could focus solely on certification work, and just hanging out. This is what happened day 3. If I'm running top notch, those rest days are HARD when they're in excess of just one. Sunday afternoon, I was incredibly antsy and the weather was terrible out. I kept it to 75% at squats, then focused on some light shoulder stuff. Trying to find something of a compromise with staying steady on track (aka Be Easy/Careful). I think it's time to invest in a pair of lifters. Two more weeks of lighter work as I work through more scar release therapy on my cesarean scar, then I'm starting the nitty gritty stuff, so I'm far more prepped for what's planned in 2018.

This yummy muffin recipe is one of my most popular!! So easy to make, and so delicious!! Lemon Chia Seed Muffins 🍋🍋🍋
1/3 cup Vanilla Juice Plus Complete
Coconut sugar 2/3 cup
Almond flour 1/2 cup (if subbing all-purpose or gluten-free baking blend, add 2 tbsp. oil)
Baking powder 1 tsp.
Baking soda 1/2 tsp.
Salt 1/4 tsp. Plain or nondairy
Greek yogurt 1/2 cup
Egg whites 1/2 cup, approx. 4 large, or 4 vegan eggs
Unsweetened apple sauce 1/2 cup
Lemon juice 2 tbsp.
Vanilla extract 1 tsp.
Black chia seeds (or poppy seeds) 2 tbsp. 1. Preheat oven to 350° F. 2. Whisk together dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. 3. In a separate mixing bowl, beat together wet ingredients. 4. Mix dry and wet ingredients until just combined, then stir in black chia seeds or poppy seeds. 5. Line cups of a muffin pan with paper, silicone, or foil liners, and lightly spray insides with cooking spray. with cooking spray. 6. Divide batter between cups, filling almost to the top. 7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick or knife comes out clean.

2 speedy miles tonight that felt really good! Especially since I didn't get to work out all weekend. 2 days until #Thanksgiving ! I'm excited to be running a little Turkey Trot 5k that day with my son before cooking a feast of tastiness! I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday week! ❤.

Hamstring acting up after overdoing it on the weekend, so taking an extra rest day. Worked on a research paper all day, so I did take a walk outside in the freezing cold for a break & some exercise.
