Thanks to Paul Hollywood, Tim now believes he has been vindicated when it comes to the utterly obscene amount of caramel he puts in his millionaires shortbread. I mean no one is complaining, they're gorgeous (there's even a brownie in the background trying to bask in the reflected glory) and they're on the counter now, so you better be quick before they all get scoffed! 🍫
It's been a long week but we're getting ready for a long hot summer with plenty of dehydrated blood orange for our signature Gondola sorbet! Don't forget to enter our #springintosorbet competition to win a takehome container of your favourite flavour!!
Yesterday my son calmly, but very firmly, refused to go to daycare. He wanted to stay home with me and his sister and play and read. If I had to rush to a meeting and had full strength in my upper body I would've bundled him up and strapped him into the car kicking and screaming. But those forceful interventions are no longer available to me, I have not regained all my strength yet post surgery, and the chemotherapy drugs taking over my brain leave me with little will power after trying to negotiate with him for over an hour. Since I'm not working during cancer treatment, I now have the luxury of being able to change my plans and spend the morning with him, even if it meant getting him to follow me around while I crossed a few chores off my list. I told him he had won, and I wouldn't make him go to daycare if he really didn't want to. I told him I had no more fight left in me. He responded "but I have lots of fight left?" I nodded. "Yes. You have lots of fight in you."
