Crossing the finish line with unique feelings in my home country at #gloriasportsarena , Antalya/Turkey!
After many unplanned challenges, I completed the season beating my personal best #ironman703 time with 5h11m in my first year of #triathlon .
I swam 2.2k in 47 minutes without a wetsuit instead of 1.9k because I failed to swim on a straight line. However, despite I had some race day problems, I had the personal bests for cycling and running! Completing 90k cycling in 2h37m with an average speed ~34.2km/h and the 21k run in in 1h38m.
Living on the steep learning curve continues and I still have hunger an dedication to get a slot for #IM703worldchampionship one day. I know hard work pays off and with given time, effort and support; Anything is possible!
Lastly, I would like to thank and send my deepest appreciation to all the support crew, @arcankemahli @eliftekbas @ismailicdemir @korayhelvacioglu @merveceyg @aslliiss 👸🏼♥️, my brother @onursyg and his relay team, @ozi @erhangungor who completed their first Ironman703 relay with an outstanding performance (5h33m) and my coach @paulogoncalvescoach the boss, for giving me the sufficient energy I needed during the day, i couldn't do it without them!
Next race will be in Dubai in February 2nd 2018, with the host @s.harunzade where I will be forcing my limits to finish the course in less than 4h50m.
There's enough potential out there.
The pain will remain the same but I hope I will only get faster and faster by then!
@usaparatriathlon Athletes Mark Barr, Jamie Brown, Joel Rosinbum, and
Mohamed lahna competed at the World Championships in Rotterdam last month. Barr placed 2nd in his race and Brown earned a podium spot with a 3rd place in his class. * Congratulations to all these athletes for a great year. They all put in countless hours training. We admire their devotion to triathlon and growing sport in the adaptive community. 🇺🇸 @usatriathlon Athletes: @mdbarr8 @jamie_brown_tri @rosinbum
Swimming is one of those events that's such a production to prep for - mentally, physically. There's so much crap to lug to the pool, especially if going before work, admittedly that's one of the reasons it's taken me so long to literally dive back in. But I finally did it. After months of seeing my sad swimsuit, goggles and cap hang in my shower, begging to be used rather than left alone. every day that I'd get in the shower was another day I'd be so disappointed with myself that another day had gone by. "I'm sorry" I'd think, willing my apology to this lifeless accoutrement. Discouragement happens. And one of my favorite quotes by a basketball coach is "you measure someone by what it takes to discourage them". I've always thought that true. But I'd like to modify that - with the declaration that you also measure someone by what it takes to re-encourage them. What drives them to finally give up on giving up. It was a slow swim, but with each kick-off from the wall, I felt myself happier and happier, my posture growing taller, and reach stretching forward, my invisible wings sprouting again and heart soaring. The suit, no longer a metaphor for my sad swimless-soul, revitalized with the scent of chlorine. My goggles, fresh with drops of water. My cap, no longer faded. Up next: planning 2018's race cal. I'm back. .
#tbt to 2015 to the first time I went sub 5 in a Half Ironman 🙌🏻 and grabbed a 3rd place podium spot 🥉AND qualified for Ironman 70.3 Worlds🌎.
Going into the race, my goal at Ironman 70.3 New Orleans was a sub 5:10. But I have more than one goal for every race...so for this race my aggressive goal was a sub 5:00 and my super aggressive goal was a sub 4:50. I killed the bike with my fastest splits ever thanks to my #shiv tri bike❤️! The bike you ride does make a difference! At the halfway mark in the run I realized I was on pace to go sub 5. I was thrilled! And four miles to go I realized I had a shot at my super aggressive goal. I hauled ass to see if I could make it. It hurt BAD! I crossed the finish line at 4:49:11!!! I did it! 🎉
This is a race I will remember as one I had to dig deep for. So many times I wanted to slow down and just settle for my sub 5 goal, but as I always tell my athletes, "go slow or go fast, doesn't matter because it still hurts, so you might as well go fast and finish sooner!" _
With NOLA happening this weekend, and I've got two athletes racing it, it brings back happy memories. Praying my athletes have a great race too! They're ready 👊🏻

Last minute sign up to my first triathlon of the season tomorrow. So what's the best thing to do 14 hrs pre-race? Head to your nearest Olympic pool and frantically try to swim like it was yesterday, all in hopes of resurfacing some old muscle memory that haven't been used in a while. Can't wait for race start!

Before this event i was going through a low phase, i got sick and didnt feel like training. Couldnt believe how a week before i was doing 4-5 hour bike ride and 3+ hours run and now 40 min on my bike felt like a punishment. But these words got into me and i wanted to share them with you:
1) "Plan A": if you are tired of starting over than STOP giving up.
2) try to do new things! -go through that uncomfortable feeling of doing something new.
-face your fears
-set new standard -have courage
-a Big desire to keep going (no matter the obstacles)
"I truly believe thag HARD WORK can beat talent, when TALENT doesnt work hard" 💪🏼😅
And something very important: "A high tolerance for monotony is a decidely, underrated SUPERPOWER" 🔸 Learn to work in the basic 🔸
Thank you @ironcowboyjames for sharing your experience and proving one more time that it's all POSSIBLE when you believe in yourself, work hard and know the reasons that push you going further. #ElSalvador#ironcowboy#triathlon#triathlete#swimbikerun#ironman#goals#ironmantraining#IMCZ#momlife#50ironmans50states50days#AnythingIsPossible
🇧🇷 Amo o triathlon, mas o que me transforma de verdade são as ferramentas do DeRose Method
Ps.: E as marcas da bermuda que pelo visto não sairão nunca mais?!?! 😳🙈😩

Join me in this journey!! This year I finally realized that I can do whatever I put my mind to. I was never able to run farther than 3 miles, or bike more than 30 miles.
This summer I discovered the power of biking, and it has transformed my life. I’m leaping into this journey to fitness and not looking back. I take running as the biggest challenge, #noexcuses to get out there and #justdoit .
I set a goal to complete a triathlon in June 2018 and hope to inspire people and show that a change in mindset is a change in life!
I used to look at exercise as a way to control weight, now I’m looking to get fit to be lit!!! 🔥🔥🏊🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🚴 #triathlontraining#swimbikerun#fit2blit
