Parents wish for their children to be happy and healthy. They don't ask why you spend your nights at the dry ski slope, come rain or shine, week in, week out. So obsessed by an activity they've never heard of they catch you in your bedroom in full kit with a huge plank of wood attached to your feet. Years pass and travels continue. A few breaks here, some silly breaks there. Nothing major and life goes on. One day they get a phone call that changes everything. Life is a fine balance.
Crux. This contraption lived in my spine for eighteen months (2004-2005). The mechanics developed in the late 19th century and still used today. I'm making my way back to Grenoble where I spent a fortnight following the burst fracture of my T12 vertebrae, to meet my Physio who helped me walk again, see the room and try to remember some more details from that time. 🎹
