Was going to do a big food prep today but I'm feeling sooo tired, I did manage to make some banana pancakes though and a few extra for the week. These are made with eggs, bananas, cinnamon and baking powder, yep that's all! No oats, no flour, so they are much lower in carbs. One pancake contains about 5 grams of carbs which is soo much better than the pancakes I was eating while on holidays🙊
Back at it. This is my- I'm trying to smile and stay positive but I really need a break face. Had to have a renal CT scan today. Which is an ultra sound of my kidneys. After reporting to my doctor's nurse I was having throbbing pain over both kidneys and asked "Is that normal?" She called me within 5 minutes and said, the doctor needs you to have an ultra sound." I was so upset about learning I had lost more kidney function last week (I'm down to 25% function left) prior to talking to her I didn't bother to ask what they were looking for. I'm told kidney disease/failure isn't painful. They will know more about my kidney function from blood and urine. So again I have to wait until tomorrow when I'm at work for my doctor to call and deliver good or bad news. I still have no clue what the test is looking for other than a kidney stone which I know I don't have. That said as sad as this makes me it really reminds me of how short life truly is. Just wanted to give a shout out to 3 of my friends- @carol5040 for always listening to all my medical shit. At this point she could probably treat some of my conditions herself. And today for being interested in what it takes to be a kidney donor. You'll never know how just asking meant so much to me. To @jcsoto14 for being my friend for so long and being one of the sweetest people I've ever met. And lastly to @missfelecialee because no matter what the heck she is going through she always stays optimistic and pushes on. And puts others often before herself. You are an example of what a fighter looks like. You are in my heart and I am sending you love and light now and always. 😘
So I leave everyone with this quote that always touches my soul- "Do all that you can, with all you have, in the place where you are." ~Nkosi Johnson
first run with the Apple Watch & nike running club! post run BG of 101mg/dL - pretty good as I am out of sensors 😣 dex sensors are supposed to come this week 🤞🏼 also 🐠 tan line since it’s been so nice outside lately!
I really should stop eating after 7pm. I'm like 99.9% positive it's just contributing to my nighttime highs. Highs at 🌛mean less sleep, more tossing and turning, and a wonderful morning 😑 Hooray for correction units ✌🏻❤️💉
Tonight I took an old family favorite and Made it a more carb conscious option. The original recipe is from my Grandpa KEN called Tortilla Pie. Instead of using regular tortillas with 37 grams of carbohydrates per tortilla I used the carb conscious version with 6 Net carbs and the dish was still as good as I remembered from when I was a kid. DM me if you would like the recipe.

I had to quit yesterday, but I did it this morning! The furthest I’ve ever ran. I had to google map a few places to comprehend how far 9 miles really is! My blood sugar stayed between 130-140 the whole time which was perfect for me! My body felt pretty rough the rest of the day, but that’s ok. That’s just part of getting stronger. 😊💪🏻💁🏻 #T1D#rachelontherun#liveyourlist
Fasting numbers and before breakfast 😘 been getting consistently good numbers for the past few weeks, even without workout, because body needs complete recovery so I'm staying out of gym for more than 15 days now. But I always make sure to keep myself active by doing laundry haha!
Decided not to take my fast acting insulin every time I'll get a 5 and below numbers pre-meals (with 👨⚕️ approval of course) thanks to fruits-veggies-salmon diet no spikes at all 🙌 And maybe the long acting insulin is working wonders ✌️💉 Will be doing a series of blood work a week from now, and I have never been this excited and confident to my next endo visit!
Experimenting is the 🔑 What works for me might not work for you. Listen to your body and stay positive ❤️ ㅣ
Good morning! 🌸 so yesterday I worked 13.30-21.30 and it was my first independently day at work at the hospital. It was really stressful but fun. And my bg was really good yesterday during work. Today I'm working 6.45-15.30 🏥💉💪🏻
2 things you need by your bed bc you never know what 2am will bring: glucose tabs for low sugah and my pancreatic remote control for some STAT insulin. I have mastered making life-and-death decisions in half sleep. #goodnight#diabeteslife#type1diabetes#t1d#diabetes

Sometimes an app or tool does something unexpectedly awesome and you just have to share. This one goes to the amazing crew from @onedroptoday I have started using their app to help with carb counts on new foods and logging dosages. Well, last week I was in Poland and I thought I was going to be out of luck or on my own for my counts. Instead, I open the app and it says something like "It looks like you are in Poland, would you like to use our Polish menu?" Umm, YES! I could barely spell what I was eating but I had the right carb dose for my pierogies. 👏👏👏Onedrop. Thanks for making my travel less stressful #coolapp#onedropdaily#t1d#innovation#carbcount#diabetes#diabetictraveler#type1diabetes
Since I ran out of pods, I have to use my leftover old ones. Insulet is supposed to send me a shipment of 3 boxes every 3 months. Lately I've had to fight with them in order to get them, often times coming extremely close to running out of pods. Well, this time I did run out. I am sick and tired of having to fight with them for something that is vital to my health. I'm so annoyed that I have to go back to the bigger ones.

My 1st and 2nd insulin pump from Medtronic. I remember how thrilled and excited I was when I first got it. By the time the trainer arrived to my house, i had already read the manual twice and watched the videos. She said, I was an easy patient, that I didn't need her. But it was a long and hard journey to get there... I remember that many years prior to having my first pump my Drs never even mentioned it... I guess they thought I was not smart or rich enough to have one. I remember I was working at a Drs office when I befriended a patient and she told me about her daughters Diabetes and insulin pump. Insulin pump?! I asked. She explained what it was and was kind enough to bring me the brochure at work. I'm so thankful for her. She was like an angel sent from heaven. It opened my eyes to a brand new option. I told my Endo about it and he disregarded me. He said that my bgs were out of control so I couldn't start insulin pump therapy! Even though I always managed to keep my A1C at a 7 with just injections. I got a new job, got better health insurance and all of the sudden the Dr changed his mind and said I could have an insulin pump now, made the arrangements and ordered it. If he only knew I would have done anything including saved all the money I earned from my job to purchase the pump or pay whatever difference my previous health insurance couldn't cover! Only to have the kind of freedom that I now experience. How I despise the people who use their power to keep others in the dark for either personal gain or stereotypical assumptions...
But I'm grateful, for the Lord has taken me this far! So grateful for what I have! 💙💙💙💙🙂🙂
