served with our fresh kohlrabi slaw and accompanied by grilled summer squash
Exactly two weeks ago we opened our show at @picturefarmpro-338 Wythe Ave and tomorrow to celebrate the last day all of @tabularasamagazine will be manning the gallery from 12-5pm. I have spent the past two weeks working non stop and finally had time to sit back and think about our opening and some things just kept on bubbling up to the surface of my brain. "Thank You" is by far the biggest one, I want to say thank you to every single person that walked through those doors that night-It's the best feeling in the world to spin around a room and see nearly every person you love. Thank you to my parents who don't always agree with every choice I make but try their best to understand and support me. Thank you to our photographers for going above and beyond, we are so proud of your contributions! Thank you to @picturefarmpro for trusting and helping us so much and really giving us the freedom we strive to give our photographers right back to us. Thank you to @kaylacamstra for installing the show, without you we would have nothing! Thank you to @yvonnetnt for taking the most beautiful photos of our night. Thank you to @newyorkgazelle and @_meredeath for helping us so much the night of the show. Thank you to @tashinyc for having the most magic touch with makeup and making me look like I actually slept when I hadn't in two days. Finally I need to thank @esekim and Sabrina Banta. Sitting here at @cafe_rouge enjoying this drink on the docks next to London Tower Bridge with a slight breeze as the sun is setting observing the people around me and their conversations is kind of living a dream. You have my heart London.

Reposting this photo because... One, I didn't realize that there is an archive button for our #instagram posts! Meaning we are able to put some feed the back burner for when we don't want to see certain photos while browsing through our personal online scrapbooks for a muse or some sort of inspiration from le self.
I found that I have a tendency to delete or what I call "burn" my past artwork. I guess it's a dramatic way of rebirthing, like a phoenix, creative energy by fertilizing a fresh pallete. #tabularasa
And two, because this is one of the largest pots that I threw during this past session and it is also one of the pieces that exploded in the recent bisque firing.
There were four pieces that cracked due to moisture that was not allowed to evaporate before firing. They were all placed on the top shelf because of the noticably moisture. Specifically they weren't dry since I sponged feet on pieces that were sitting around that I thought ought to be fired... Also, just simply because they were not dry as I had just trimmed the bottom of the bowl in the photo as well as a smaller size replica that fit directly in that bowl (which also cracked... 🐙)
So the lesson here is to... never ever ever ever (Outcast beat)... allow any pieces that are moist to go into the kiln at all, forever. If they are cold to the touch - set those babies in the sun!
Even if time's running fast and even if there is intense desire to get a FULL load in. It's always worth it to wait! Give patience by allowing the clay body to thoroughly dry.
