I call this “Death of my last keg”... or in other words, we’re out of beer!!! Guess I need to stop spending time drinking and spend more time brewing... next beers are going to be west and east coast ipa, Session ipa and even a Brett IPA if someone knows a good strain??? Cough @azwilderness :)
Was an absolute scorcher 🔥 out at @lakesmbc yesterday for Summercross
But it was great to see the boys lining up together 👍
Especially coming away with a 1st a 3rd and some great progress!
Off season training definitely showing up now 💪💥
For my @tappedstl finale, I poured a full snifter of something I'm very familiar with: @saugatuckbrew Neopolitan Milk Stout (6% ABV, 37 IBU). And that will conclude my latest Tapped excursion, as it has many a meal.
Look: Dark and opaque, slightly off-site head.
Nose: Strawberry and slight vanilla, very unique smell.
Taste: Initially strawberry sweetness, followed by subtle vanilla, and concluding with light chocolate, runs the gamut of tastes around a creamy mouthfeel.
Finish: Smooth and sweet as the strawberry again rises to the top.
Bonus: Sets a bar with its name and lived up to it. Props.
Summary: If ever in the mood for a dessert beer, this is the one I target. Dark and filling, it actually tastes like Neopolitan ice cream.
Needed something a little light after that final @tappedstl flight board beer, so grabbed a taster of @modernbrewery G.O.A.T. (7% ABV, 45 IBU). Scoring Notes:
Look: Opaque, straw body, foamy white head.
Nose: Hops right off the bat, some subtle citrus.
Taste: Citrus and bitterness, though not as much as the smell of hops would suggest.
Finish: Tapers off relatively quick, light citrus lingers slightly.
Bonus: Props on the name, even if it isn't close to true. Plus, I'm a sucker for acronyms.
Summary: A very light IPA that seems like it should be more bitter based on the nose, somewhat of a tease.
Final @tappedstl flight board beer comes from outside the Stl: @nebraskabrewing Hazelnut Fathead Brown (11.5 ABV, 33 IBU). Scoring Notes:
Look: Deep amber/light mahogany with a thin white head.
Nose: Very strong and nutty, definite bourbon overtones, almost overpowering.
Taste: Initial strong taste, melts into a liquor flavor, warming.
Finish: Bourbon taste lingers for quote a while and melts into a deep caramel.
Bonus: Nothing too unique.
Summary: As with most barleywines, has more on common with liquor than beer. Don't drink this too quickly... #craftBeer#nebraskabrewing#hazelnutfatheadbrown#tapped#nebraskacraft
@tappedstl flight beer #3 : @earthboundbeer Open Source Brown (5.3% ABV). Scoring Notes:
Look: Deep clear amber with a thin white head.
Nose: Slightly malty, little notes of bread and caramel.
Taste: Initial maltiness followed by nutty and slight caramel tastes.
Finish: Nice and smooth, bread flavor lingers.
Bonus: If the name means anyone can modify it, that's awesome.
Summary: Great fall beer and a fairly nice brown ale.
Next beer on my @tappedstl flight board - @fergusonbrewing Irish Red (5.1% ABV, 21 IBU). Scoring Notes:
Look: Clear Amber body with a thin white head, very clean look.
Nose: Light caramel notes with malty overtones.
Taste: Some initial light hops, caramel and bready notes, soft mouthfeel.
Finish: Crisp and brief, caramel notes become a little more apparent.
Bonus: Nothing too unique.
Summary: Good middle-of-the-road beer. Very relaxing and nice in warmer weather. #craftBeer#fergusonbrewing#irishred#tapped#stlcraft
As always at @tappedstl, I start with a flight board of beers I've never had. The first today was @4handsbrewingco's kolsch, Story of the Beer (5.5% ABV, 20 IBU). Scoring Notes:
Look: Opaque and light straw color, thin white head with little beading.
Nose: Nothing too apparent outside of a hint of lemon.
Taste: Crisp and clean with slight citrus notes.
Finish: Short and clean, doesn't linger.
Bonus: Nothing especially unique.
Summary: Your typical kolsch, refreshing, cleam, and simple.
💥Quick Nutrition Tip💥
If you're like me and not a fan of eating veggies and salads at every meal and probably not getting enough micro-nutrients in each day...
Then this is your secret weapon! 🔫🔫
This powder form has much greater absorption compared to other forms like tablets or capsules. Meaning you won't piss crazy colours after taking it.
I have also found that it gives a nice little energy boost if take first thing in the morning 👍
Hitting your calorie and macro-nutrient goals each day is great! But without also getting the right amount of micro-nutrients in as well your body will not be able to perform optimally. -
Give these a try and I promise you won't be disappointed 👍💪💥

Baxter Blonde! #Tapped
A NW spin on a traditional blonde ale, this beer exhibits a smooth malt character that comes from Mecca Grade malt from Madras balanced with tropical citrus blend of Galaxy hops from NZ and Citra from WA. Cheers to the Chief! 💚
Tuning in to your body, learning what it needs and what it is capable of is one of the most important things for athletes.
Unfortunately, this is something that must be learner from experience. From doing the hard time in the trenches. Learning what it's like to be run down and beat up and what you need to do in order to get back to 100%. _
Knowing your own body and knowing how hard you can safely push it is the key to peak performance.
