We feel so blessed to live where we do - there are many reasons for this, but always it comes back to the people and their kindness and generosity. I was smiling to myself yesterday as I baked these little custard tarts when I realised the origin of their ingredients.The golden egg yolks from a friend's chooks; the creamiest Jersey cow milk you could ever imagine, a gift from our wonderful local cheese-maker, Debra Allard @debra_allard_cheesie (the cream on top is so thick that I've been spooning it off and drizzling it over anything and everything!); the homemade strawberry jam I dolloped over the bases, per kind favour of an enormous trayful of slightly bruised and damaged berries I was given by one of our lovely local farmers at the market on Friday; and the recipe for the divine custard filling from the kindest man, and my most favourite chef, Sean Moran @seanmoran64. I can't begin to explain how happy all this makes me feel. And the recipe...well, it still needs a little work, but the almond pastry is a definite winner and one I shall definitely be teaching at my baking classes at the wonderful Agrarian Kitchen cooking school @agrariankitchen next year. BTW, we have added an extra class - on Saturday 24th February - to my time there. If you would like to join me, and I would love it if you could, all the details are on their website.
And on that note, I shall say goodbye...I'm off to do some much needed weeding in my garden...no doubt interspersed with numerous tea breaks and sustaining nibbles on the last two tartlets! Happy Sunday! Belinda xx💚
