I love being at home these days, I don't feel like I want to go out partying like crazy and that means for now I won't and that's ok. Learning to accept what I crave + need in the moment is a huge step for me but practice makes perfect and if you don't try you'll never know. The "XOXO" Story - the one that wanted me to hide under the quilt, till people would forget me🙈🙈 so here goes the story. ..
I was first introduced to Xoxo when I was 26, there was this guy (I was crushing on) with whom I used to chat with and end of every message he would type xoxo. Now, I for one didn't know what it meant and didn't want to ask at the risk of sounding foolish (googling it didn't strike). So everyday went on with the xoxo mystery building up in my head, until one day I said I need to know. So I asked him: what is this xoxo you keep writing to me🙊 ..
And he replied: it means love and hugs😐 and I was so embarrassed, that I stopped completely talking to him (you know how that crush story ended, I didn't want him to tease me for the rest of my life😉). At that time I thought I was not cool or how can I be so stupid and wished I was invisible🙈 Now, that I am a little older.. I am okay not knowing things. For all other things we have #google 😂 ..

A while back I cooked an artichoke dish from the @sweetgreekshop cookbook and I’ve been wanting to make another one ever since. This time I made a dish that my parents used to cook together. ARTICHOKE HEARTS IN LEMON AND DILL SAUCE. Every week my dad loved to visit 3 or 4 fruit shops in the surrounding areas (Ashfield, Leichhardt, Summer Hill, Marrickville) and look for specials. He had retired and it was a hobby of his. Whenever he found fresh artichokes he would bring them home and together with mum they would make this dish. Now it takes a lot of effort to peel and clean artichokes so when I found out that some deli’s sell frozen packets imported from Greece, I took the opportunity and bought a few.
The flavour of this dish is pretty close to their version so I’m extremely happy! It reminds me of a house that smelt of food all the time and constantly had loud Greek music playing from the radio. Every now and then I’d hear running footsteps in the kitchen and a ‘click’ sound and it was one of my parents running to press the REC button on the tape recorder. They only needed to hear the first note and they knew which song it was. I’m laughing now as I’m typing this because my dad nearly stacked it once just to make it in time to record a George Dalas song. We still have all the cassettes they recorded, all 300 of them! Can you imagine the music that would be on all those cassettes? When you come back from holidays and you don't have anything in the fridge and you remember that before you left, you freeze all the seasonal fruit you had. Yeahhhh and I've found also some peas from Maresme that were also frozen! I've made this delicious #smoothie with frozen peas, bananas, peach and pear, with a bit of rice milk, ginger and frozen polen from @apicia_fr.

Cuando vuelves a casa de las vacaciones y no tienes nada en la nevera, pero te acuerdas que has congelado toda la fruta de temporada que tenias! Yeahhhh pues también encontré en el congelador guisantes del Maresme. He hecho este smoothie con guisantes congelados, plátanos, peras, nactarinas, leche de arroz, jengibre y polen también congelado de @apicia_fr.

One of the best halo halo I've tasted. The ingredients are unique from the usual and are all the best from Ilocos. The serving is good for 1-2 persons. Definitely, we will be back for Buko Halo Halo which was unfortunately sold out that night.

A simple Goan stir fry (bhaji) using Taro (known locally in Konkani as Mundlyo). The versatile tuber is so underrated and this recipe is one of the easiest and most flavorful way to add it to your meal.
