Unrelated picture of Burly and I, but I'm 🌟proud 🌟to announce that I've been selected to join the USA Climbing Adaptive Committee as the athlete representative (thought I was retiring? Me too- guess not!) I'm excited to see what this team can accomplish - growing the number of adaptive athletes that compete at home and abroad, and getting our team stronger than ever as we prepare for the 2018 @ifsclimbing world championships in Innsbruck, Austria! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Do you have any ideas for, or feedback on adaptive climbing comps? Send them on over!

***Warning- long race summary*** So I've held off on posting much about this weekend's races because I just haven't found the words to express the emotions racing through my mind... and I still haven't! 😜 But you all have been so incredibly supportive and encouraging, I want you guys to know how much all your comments have meant to me- thank you! ❤
I had 3 races this weekend, 1 was just for fun with the amazing MIT Tough Team (more about them later). But before that, I had 1 individual race and 1 team relay race.
My individual race on Friday was a flurry of emotions... both highs and lows. But overall, I'm proud of what I did out there because I raced hard and I gave it everything I had. Most importantly, I'm proud of the example I set for my kids:
1- dream big and believe that you can make it happen
2- and never ever give up when the going gets tough.
Sunday's team relay race was amazing!! I was lucky enough to have 2 awesome teammates and we just rocked it together! I had the 1st 5k up & down the entire super muddy mountain, and about 19 very slippery obstacles, all of which I nailed!! I felt really good about my performance in that race and crossed that finish line with a huge sense of accomplishment!
Thank you to all of you for your messages, love, and support, and to my MIT family... there are no words. ❤
Here are a few pics from Mike & teammates. Will post official pics when I get them. Don't worry, I'll be annoying you all week with more as they come in. 😘
I think I experienced my full spectrum of emotions this weekend. The 15k+ course was the hardest thing I've ever done and I'm absolutely exhausted. Starting the race to going straight up and down the mountain in solid mud with no footing (no less than 4 times and 4,000ft elevation change), getting to the top and the sun peeking out to see one of the most beautiful views I've ever seen, and back to a grueling course that beat up on the body.
I wanted to quit.
I experienced defeat like I've never felt before. I FINISHED the course (which was a feat in itself and still received my finisher perks) but I didn't meet my goal of finishing under the cut off time. The course + penalties needed to be under 5 hours and I was 4:39 run time and around 6:19 with penalties. My arm stopped working about halfway through (I ended up having a tear or strain in the bicep attachment that has irritated a. We've causing my left arm to go numb.) To have this happen in the World Championship race is an absolutely gutting feeling. Any ego is deflated and I'm incredibly proud of the people that finished the course with 100% completion as I was nowhere near that. I am also grateful for having a body that I can't put through things like this and still come out in one piece. Thanks to @achi_limon23 for trying to keep me sane and looking at the positives among the sea of negatives.
I'll get it back next year.
I chose to smile in this picture only because frowning would've looked stupid.
Also, I got the defect medal... the leaf is upside down. But it's unique so I'm keeping it.

How to I even put into words how this weekend went for me.. First year ever attending OCR world championships and it lived up to its expectations!! I felt so good the first half of the course.. Battling constantly with @wickedlmessner for the 4th position.. The first half of the course was back and forth then I felt strong and had a lead for a good while until some how the girl found her second wind and just blew right by me at the last couple miles.. Got hung up at the rope climb and as I watched her lead grow at that point all kind of things went through my head. I was watching positions just run right by as I had nothing left in me to pull myself up that 30ft rope climb.. My results of placing 12th doesn't reflect how my race really went! Being able to battle in the front of the pack with THE BEST girls in my age group was something I will build off of.. It will only make me more hungry to fight for that podium position!! But what really made this weekend memorable was the support and fight and determination from everyone out there.. THERE is NOTHING like the atmosphere of this sport! Beyond blessed to be apart of it! @ocrwc #ocrwc2017#ocr#ocrfitness#ocraddict#ocrobstacles#fitnessmotivation#nevergiveup#neversettle#pushyourself#pushyourlimits#untilnextyear#mittoughteam#mittoughteamusa#whoweare#teamusa

My babies! Closest thing I'll ever get to being a father.
Quitting/Giving up or feeling like you are unable to achieve things because it is overwhelming your life becomes a disease, that not only affects you, but it attatches itself to everyone you know, everyone you love, and even worse, the next generation watching you. Just because you couldn't do it, doesn't mean they can't, so don't let the word "give up" define your characteristic...Do difficult things over and over again, and make difficult seem "Normal" in their eyes even though you contemplating quitting yourself! Its not about you...its never been about you.
Thousands of hmong OGs died for me to be here, and now that I'm here alive, not 6 feet under, I'm complaining about my bills? About school? About the people at work? WHO AM I? to disrespect the efforts of those who DIED so I can complain about the things I can complain about now? Let me pass on their "Siab Tawv" (Iron Heart/Will)! #hmong#ethnicity#asian#asianathletes#teamquest#teamusa#maximusnutrition#lostbreed#HmongBreakersLeadershipCouncil#lostbreed#mylife#journey#inspire#motivate#quotes#myquotes#mythoughts
