Similarly to all the rowing videos I’ve done, this one is right up there. If you go to any commercial gym you will spot atlest one person doing this wrong.

The clips marked with an "❌" are the incorrect examples I ALWAYS see. They may seem exaggerated, but this is what I see almost every day.

1️⃣Rounding through the lumbar spine/chest caving in. Super common.
2️⃣Using momentum and your own body weight to pull the weight back.
3️⃣Not keeping your head and neck neautral.
4️⃣Performing the exercise too fast with zero control and therefore not contracting the muscle.

- 
1️⃣Take hold of the V-bar and create a 90° angle between your torso and legs (maintaining a slight bend at the knees)
2️⃣Make sure you bring your chest up and out, retract your scapular, and keep your head, neck and spine neautral; this posture should be maintained throughout the movement
3️⃣Your arms should be extended out in front of you holding the V-bar with your shoulders in protraction: this is your starting position
4️⃣Pull through your elbows (imagine your hands as hooks) until they reach your sides and the V-bar reaches your abdominal, at this point your shoulder blades should be retracted.
5️⃣Squeeze your back muscles hard once fully contracted and slowly begin to lower the weight back.
6️⃣Allow a stretch in your back muscles when performing the eccentric contraction.
7️⃣Maintain the tension and begin your next repetition once you’ve felt a full stretch. Repeat for desired number of reps.

First, yanking the bar downward in the kip is the action that creates the weightlessness to sit up and lean forward to cast. The next action is a violent shove downward. She is short here, but she was being a little bit safe on this turn. Second, shape change is necessary for aggressive clear hips. The action that creates the strong vertical lift is a violent pull downward on the bar as the athlete is upside down. Next is the hand slide technique for pirouetting. If you watch carefully, her left hand moves to the right on the upswing. This allows for the shoulders to turn and for the pressure against the bar to accelerate the turn. Athletes will become much more adept and confident on pirouetting when they implement this technique. Lastly, the one-two method for overshoots is the most reliable and consistent way to create an overshoot to handstand. Watch as the arms release the bar separately. This separation turns the athlete and flips them easily. The first arm that releases should reach down to the floor and the low bar to facilitate this happening.

It's been over a month since I messed my back up in Austin, totally tanking my Hatch squat cycle halfway into it😢😢😢. Today I am finally able to load some decent weight onto the bar without pain. Today in the #lookinggoodnotsomuch series, we're exploring foot to hand! Well you can talk all day long about foot to hand, but I think the pictures are pretty explanatory... The not so much is the most common thing I see with newer flyers. Sticking the butt back and leaning forward, which for some reason feels more stable at first.
