Today was a gift from above indeed and in so many ways. ❄️❤️🙌🏼 With the first being that I was able to fly home last night, I got home at 2:30am just in time to witness this most gorgeous and outrageously fun day! 🙌🏼 Thank you, Jesus! •
Secondly, we hear it was many answered prayers of little ones in our community. 🙌🏼
But most of all I wanted to share my fav ‘stop me in my tracks,’ instant mama tears, heart elated moment. This morning Diesel woke up, ran to the window and was in complete awe. Enamored, full of disbelief, and too much joy to even try to contain! He ran to his room to get warm clothes on to head out and indulge in sneaux! He yells to me from his room, “Mom this is a gift, a gift only from the Lord. This is the day that the Lord has made!” •
Be still my ❤️!
“Every good and perfect gift is from above...”
Such a sweet reminder as we are in the advent season. May we take this wonder and awe with us everyday- as we are surrounded by miracles. The miracle of all miracles- our Lord and Savior! The greatest gift of all. May we praise Him in all circumstances, the snow, the rain, the sun, and through the storms -everyday of our lives. 🙌🏼🙏🏼❤️❄️ May we rejoice and be glad in it! •

🏈🏈 I’m so proud of these young men. Coaching and mentoring them at the “E” for football and preparing them for what Life brings. My heart is heavy knowing that these guys will be playing on the next level next year. The best is yet to come. I’m so proud of them. Love them dearly RB L.Starks, OT Alec Anderson and WR Geordon Porter all College Bound and beyond. Special young men. #TheGift#inspiredbythegiftmentoring#ACoachesLife Thank you Lord 🙏🏾☝🏾
See, you're done with the past, but the past is not done with you.
The Gift is a film that really surprised me with every aspect. From the writing, the directing, the acting, Hell, the editing was perfect. What really amazed me the most is who directed this suspenseful thriller, Joel Edgerton. The Gift is a film that refreshes this genre. A genre where we get films that rely on cliches and mediocre acting and thrills. But, with The Gift, in my eyes, everything felt fresh and original. Joel Edgerton took a story like this, and give us something exciting and certainly refreshing as well. The Gift feels like a Hitchcock film. I’m a huge fan of Alfred Hitchcock, with The Gift, it seems like Edgerton was— and I’m sure some of you won’t agree with me on this part— but I felt like Edgerton was heavily inspired by Hitchcock with this film. I was also amazed by Jason Bateman. Man, he truly turned in a powerful performance that feels really underrated or overlooked by others. Jason Bateman’s one of my favorite comedic actors over the years and I’ve really been enjoying his serious roles like The Gift, Disconnect and the new Netflix series, Ozark. His acting here is stellar. Seeing a comedic actor such as Jason Bateman star in a psychological thriller like The Gift you know he won’t disappoint and he didn’t. I happen to be one of the few that truly love The Gift. The finale is the most shocking finale I didn’t see coming.
What are your thoughts on this film?
I’m the luckiest man alive. She’s not only beautiful but talented. @vastaten played a banjo solo in our Christmas program today. Thankful for my wife and daughters @camrynstaten @_rileystaten_ and Dakota. Missing @brookestaten_ today! #thegift#Christmas17
November was a hard month. I was too busy, too stressed, slightly miserable, afraid, shamed... and so on. I didn't like it, I didn't feel right. I didn't feel like me. At some point in that month I did make an excellent decision and completely forgot about it. I ordered @bishopbarron 's Advent Reflections book. By the end of the month, when #Advent began, I had decided that I was going to take the season and try to return to God and myself.
In the first week I decided to free myself of a particular pair of chains I had chosen to wear for a very long time. The 2nd week I loved on my littles and struggled through resurfacing memories of my brother whom has left us. Including going to the little store in a 200 year old barn where something inside of him made him purchase beautiful gifts of #faith for my mother and I before he passed away.
Today, on the 3rd Sunday, an #encounter I will never forget. Instead of thinking about the things I don't have, I was given the opportunity to focus on what I did have and what I could #give , immediately.
We were the first car in the parking lot for mass today. A woman I had never seen before walked out of the church. Her arms were full of all the materials the church has available for those who need #toolsoffaith . She came up to my car. She asked me if I had an extra #rosary as hers had been stolen. You see, I have a TON of rosaries at home. The only ones I could find in the car were mine. They were very special to me. I gave her one, clearly she needed it worse than I in that moment. I gave her a prayer card from my purse. She read it and cried and asked for another. She looked freezing. I gave her the warmest gloves I could find in the car. She told me she was an addict and had chosen to be clean for the last 2 weeks. She was #soberbychoice . I confirmed her decision and tried to give her hope and anything else I thought would help. Even my number.
My son was terrified that I would engage in such a way with an #addict . It was then I was given another opportunity! I read him the passage from a Gospel reflection I read the other day. I too, am a sinner.
We are called to be like #Jesus . Give love. Be #TheGift 🎁
Next Sunday. Bethesda Christmas production. You need to be there. Your family needs to be there. Your neighbors need to be there. It’s going to be FUN!
