I recently read #theloneliestgirlintheuniverse by @laurenelizjames and absolutely love it! It was a fast pace YA sci-fi thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. I only wish it was longer and hope that Lauren James will revisit this world with a sequel. 🙏🏼 You can find my full review up on my blog. Link in bio. ☝🏼
A million thanks to @panmacmillansakids for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review. ❤️

✨ "Love takes so much energy, and it just leads to pain. I think it's probably best for people to be self-sufficient. Hey, guys! Sorry for being MIA all the time! Finally done with my presentations and assignments, now I have to concentrate on my Finals! I also don’t seem to have much time to read as my schedule is packed 😭😭😭 I can’t wait for Christmas break since it will give me time to finish up Crown of Midnight. |
Also, I love Lauren James’ work so much! The Next Together series was heart wrenching! I’m really looking forward to read this one since it has received lots of great reviews! Sad that the book looks so thin 😭😭😭 |

Man, I haven't done one of these in forever! Here we go (top to bottom): 1) Age of Odin by James Lovegrove - Recommended to me by my dear friend @soverlyn, it mixes wars and mythology so I decided why not give it a shot
2) The Loneliest Girl In The Universe by Lauren James - Aka my biography ahahaha it's actually interesting and I highly recommend it
3) Slasher Boys and Monster Girls by various authors - It's an anthology and a gift from my aunt
4) The Bookman's Tale by Charlie Lovett - I mean it combines my love of Shakespeare and books, how could I not read it?
5) The Serpent's Shadow by Rick Riordan - The last book in the Kane Chronicles so I was super excited to power through this book but is it me or is this one quite hard to get into? Or is it just me not having read the first two recently? Honestly I'm taking forever to read this one
6) Warcross by Marie Lu - I love love love Marie Lu and her books although I haven't read them in a while so I'm excited to read this one!
7) More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera - I needed to read more LGBTQ + orientated books and the blurb sounded hella interesting
8) The Memory of Things by Gae Polisner - I read her previous novel, The Summer of Letting Go and it made me sob and I have a feeling this is going to make me sob too
9) Last but certainly not least, Holding Up The Universe by the amazing Jennifer Niven - She's made me cry and broke my heart with All The Bright Places but she pieced my heart back together with Holding Up The Universe
This burning sensation in my heart
I grieve for my nation - we're apart
I wish I could save it, die for it
I can not escape my memories
How long would it last till I get used to it?
How can I turn off my crazy mind?
The identity change won't make me the same
As all the people who are so happy around
Cause the nature of my pain - you'll never understand it
Cause it's running through my veins - the pain of the abandoned
I am unwanted, so unwanted, so unwanted by a so called better world
So unwanted, so unwanted, so unwanted by a so called better world...
Do you make fanart? I can't draw that well, but I really like making doodle bookmark things on index cards. This one is for The Loneliest Girl in The Universe by @laurenelizjames , which I read a few weeks ago and was so so good. (The writing. The setting. The characterisation. The absolute addictiveness. )
Fun fact: 3/3 of the people I know who have read this read it in 24 hours or less.
I tried to doodle things I thought represented the book— planets, DNA, binary, and warning alerts. Anyway, slide to see the other side, which is more abstract but it's supposed to represent the Infinity, Romy's spaceship. •
Last week I read all 3 of Lauren James's books and met her to get them signed. 😄
All of these books were so interesting to read. I think I've fallen in love with sci-fi. 🚀 🌟
P.s sorry the photo isn't square gremlin (the Guinea pig) dosn't understand Instagram format.
Ich möchte nicht zu viel verraten.
Ich wünsche euch noch einen schönen Tag! 🌳
👉 Book Description:
Can you fall in love with someone you’ve never met, never even spoken to – someone who is light years away?
Romy Silvers is the only surviving crew-member of a spaceship travelling to a new planet, on a mission to establish a second home for humanity amongst the stars. Alone in space, she is the loneliest girl in the universe until she hears about a new ship which has launched from Earth – with a single passenger on board. A boy called J.
Their only communication with each other is via email – and due to the distance between them, their messages take months to transmit across space. And yet Romy finds herself falling in love.
But what does Romy really know about J? And what do the mysterious messages which have started arriving from Earth really mean?
Sometimes, there’s something worse than being alone . . .

Did you see the new emojis? My favourite ones have to be 🌚 and 🥀. The Loneliest Girl in The Universe by Lauren James
BOOK REVIEW//(No spoiler) I like the way the book includes all the emails from "The Eternity" to "The Infinty". Also, the plot twist made the book from what I thought was a predictable book to a non-predictable book but that only happened in the end personally, the book was really slow for me. The reason it's really slow is because the plot twist only happens in the last four chapters and nothing else interesting happens when leading up to the plot twist.
This has to be in my top 5 favourite covers for this year 😱😍 I’ve loved all of the covers for @laurenelizjames previous books but this one wins! ❤️ Hopefully I’ll get around to reading this gem sometime soon 😄🙈
I have read and absolutely adored The Next Together duology by Lauren 😊 They were so well written, fast paced, enjoyable and I never wanted to put them down.. If you haven’t read them yet I highly recommend you do! 🙌🏻 To this day they’re still books and characters that I think about and wonder how they’re going ☺️ I think I need to plan a reread ASAP!
QOTD: What are some of your most memorable reads?
QOTD : What’s the scariest book or movie you’ve ever read / watched? 👻
The scariest book I’ve read for day 29 of #AllTheBooksOct is The Loneliest Girl In The Universe by Lauren James! I absolutely love this book but it also scared me a ton 😅
The book didn’t scare me because it had supernatural creatures or whatever but the premise of the book is a girl trapped in space all by herself and the thought of me being in the same position as her scares me! 😐 Definitely check this book out though, it’s a great thriller 🙆🏻
“On bad days, I worry about my responsibilities until my gut cramps and my head feels full of knives.
On my very worst days, I think of nothing but how vulnerable I am out here. I’m balanced on the edge of oblivion with only a fragile skin of metal separating me from the void of space.” ― Lauren James, The Loneliest Girl in the Universe 🍂 •
Buddy-read this book with @sumaiyya.books this week and it was a case of, I wish I could love it but I didn't. I disliked it. A lot. Other than the characters anxiety, which was relatable, and the last few chapters getting slightly intense, I wasn't able to connect with no aspect of the story at all. I just didn't get it! Its point, how it wrapped up. It felt underdeveloped and juvenile and there was no substance to the story or the characters and plot for me. 😑🤷🏾♂️ \\ #ireadsreviews
