Thanks to MEC and Feel Films our shelves are bursting with shoes and backpacks for our Monthly Nature Walk Program! We reached out to MEC for donations and they were generous enough to donate packs and shoes for participants to use on our nature walks. With the help of Feel Films as well, who also donated some packs, we are able to provide each participant who attends the program with their own pack. Each pack comes equipped with bottled water, a rain poncho and a healthy homemade snack made by participants in the Healthy Baking program.
Thanks again MEC and Feel Films for helping to make this program a success! ~Strive Centre Vancouver

The sky takes on shades of orange during sunrise and sunset, the colour that gives you hope that the sun will set only to rise again - Ram Charan
If you've had a bad day the sun will rise again tomorrow 🌅
I try and remember this when the world feels a cold place. Hope is just around the corner ❤

Creativity is to the Richmond Hill ADP clients, as breeze is to the air that flows between the poppies in grassy green fields. Today the clients expressed their creative side by creating coffee filter poppies and baking poppy cookies. #lestweforget 🌹 #remembrancesay#therapeuticrecreation
I'm so happy to see that CBC recently posted an article about a farm in Elgin County (which is right near my neck of the woods in London Ontario) that is supporting teenage victims of human trafficking through equine-assisted therapy. Check out the article link in my bio.
According to Farmtown's website, horses help calm and heal our inner-being. Equine work often helps inspire and facilitate change and growth more effectively than traditional approaches. #animalassitedtherapy#equinetherapy#recreationtherapy#canada#ldnontario
Yesterday in one of my therapy groups at work, I had to answer the prompt “Tell about an experience you believe to be close to a miracle.” I was stuck between two answers. The first was the ultimate sense of calm that I find in the outdoors. The truly peaceful sensation that curiously appears amidst my toughest adventures, my most physically demanding hikes, and my most exhausting experiences outdoors. That moment that catches my breath as I notice how incredible the world is. The other experience comes from my work on an inpatient behavioral medicine unit. I see people on the worst days of their lives almost daily. I also get to see people build hope when they think there isn’t any. I get to see people find meaning in their lives and build skills that will allow them to successfully thrive in society. I get to talk to people about their passions and see what sparks a fire in their soul after they have felt as though that fire has gone out. To me, both of these experiences are not just close to miracles; they are miracles. Joy, hope, peace, compassion, love. Those are the miracles. What are some of your miracles? .

This award-winning book is all about celebrating life's little moments, like popping bubble wrap, wearing clothes fresh out of the dryer, or hitting a bunch of green lights in a row 🙌🏻 It's all about practicing gratitude for the little things in life.
A patient once said to me that she is writing her own book of awesome, so that everyday she can practice gratitude in a creative way - I thought this was brilliant! I've decided to give this a try myself, and would love to facilitate this as a program one day 📓✍🏻 #recreationtherapy#therapeuticrecreation#bookofawesome#ldnontario#canada
