@tier1concealed #aegis rig. Going to give these a shot for a while and find out why the EDC social media world has been gushing about this style of holster for months. First thing I notice about it is how easy it is to get a full firing grip on your weapon during the draw stroke. Other pros/cons pending...
Thanks for the tag. 👊👊👊 Regranned from @the_spensen - In the past six months that I've been lugging this uncomfortable hunk of steel and plastic around on a daily basis, I'd be lying if I said I hadn't asked my self on occasion, "Is it worth it?" In all honesty, the likelihood that I'll ever need a firearm for self defense is incredibly small. Small enough to make me question if it's really worth the hassle.
On Saturday, a man in our neighborhood shot at a cop, broke into a house and shot the homeowner, then escaped in the homeowners vehicle. For the next 11 hours, most of our city was asked to shelter in place while police searched for him. At one point, SWAT staged themselves outside a home just around the corner from mine, and homeowners on the block were asked to lock doors and windows and stay in their basements.
As we sat downstairs, I gathered my family together to pray for our safety and the safety of the law enforcement who were putting themselves in harm's way, and then my wife and I spent the next couple of hours keeping our kids preoccupied so they wouldn't be scared.
SWAT didn't find anyone in that home, and the Sheriff lifted all shelter-in-place orders. As the day ended with the criminal still at large, any doubts of, "Is it worth it?" we're gone. Those small odds suddenly got a lot bigger, and the reasons I carry every day were sitting in that cold basement in front of me.
My decision to carry a firearm is an intensely personal one, and I understand it's one that not everyone shares. For those of you who support the 2nd Amendment, you know where I'm coming from. But for those who don't, please understand that I, and people like me, are only interested in protecting ourselves and our families from those who would do us harm. Restrictive gun laws only give the upper hand to those who disregard the laws. #thesheepdogdefenseproject
