The real workout starts when you want to stop. 
I was up this morning to knock out my workout before a long day of travel.  I was on the struggle bus and kept wanting to give up.  I dug deep and kept pushing. ❤️💪 Giving up does not get me to where I want to be.

Nap time didn’t go as planned, we tried twice, so I haven’t worked out yet.. Instead of being mad & dwelling on it, I’m super grateful that I am home with him, I choose my work hours & I have the freedom & choice to do this when I want. ⠀

I’m also grateful for the convenience of the workouts I do, they’re accessible from my phone or computer, so I can get it done anytime!☺️ ⠀

I had a goal to run a half marathon. Now I’ve run 3 in 2 months and I’m setting my sights higher; to run a half marathon in sub 1:30.🏃‍♀️👊

There’s a few things this community on instagram has given me and one of them is the knowledge that if you believe it, work for it and go for it, then you absolutely CAN achieve it. I’m so incredibly inspired by so many of you and your success stories, and chatting to @gingerfitnessldn tonight I realised that as much as I desire a super-toned ‘fit’ muscular body, I also want to run faster and stronger and that is my number 1 goal. I’ve thought about stopping running for a month, I’ve thought about just lifting weights, I’ve considered a whole load of things, but underneath it all I’m determined to take 5 minutes of my half marathon time. So there you have it! The rest will have to fit in along the way.💪

Happy Tuesday!! Technically today is my Friday eve before the long holiday weekend!! Just wanted to say congrats to all of the #tiuladies who completed round two of the #TIU21 challenge!! We did it! I am extra thankful and proud that I stayed active during the fall season with motivation from the @toneitup program and all of the Tone It Up gals on here. Such an incredible change compared to what I was doing years prior. Nothing better than a massage to thank my body for all that it’s done for me lol! Great job, everyone! 
Will definitely be continuing on with the healthy, active lifestyle even if the challenge is over. Started with a #tiubootycall earlier today with the 5 Daily Moves (minus the ball) for now. Anyone else excited about the Black Friday deals they’re going to have? .

Also the best part is, today was the FIRST day since mid September that my hand/wrist didn't hurt 🙌🏽 So today starts my same journey to my goal that I've been doing the past few months, but with even a bigger push!! Good afternoon all! It’s been a rough couple of days. Our sweet doggie was supposed to get surgery to remove a lump, yesterday, but now the lump is looking more like cancer. We have to wait a few days for confirmation, but it’s not looking good😢 Poor girl is in pain and lethargic. A little afternoon pick me up since I didn't have coffee ☕️ this morning after rushing downtown to realize that counsel had rescheduled the conference and didn't notify any of the other attorneys 🤦🏼‍♀️When I started getting a headache around 1 pm I realized that I hadn't had my caffeine today (mamma needs her caffeine) + a larabar because it's delicious and only contains a few ingredients 🙌🏻 This one is my favorite. What's your favorite afternoon pick me up?

Small confession here - I’ve had these Harry Potter coloring books since last Christmas and am just NOW sitting down to try them out 🤦🏻‍♀️

Why is that?! Because there is ALWAYS an endless to-do list and I feel guilty taking any time out to do something as “silly” as color (ain’t nobody got time for that, right?!?)
.
But the truth is, I’ve always loved coloring as a kid. So when my son asked to color with me, I figured it was time to bring these out!
.
And it was A M A Z I N G !!
.
It gave me a chance to slow down for once.  It really did relax my mind 😊
.
It was perfect bonding time to do something together with my son. He wanted to choose the colors for my drawing and said “ooh that looks so pretty mama”.
.
It brought back the fun kid side of me 😊. Where there is no judgement or agenda - just coloring a drawing however I see fit
.
Feeling so grateful today to the Lord for these precious moments 💕

Both of these photos were taken at 27 weeks, the start of my Third Trimester but I feel completely different than I did with my 1st.
.
PREGNANCY #1:
➕I was working out regularly at the gym and taking spin classes
➕I was eating healthy probably 50% of the time
➕ I ate out for lunch every day and for dinner a few times a week
➕On the weekends I pretty much ate whatever I wanted and we ate out a lot
➕I definitely gave into pregnancy cravings and used pregnancy as an excuse to slack off
.
PREGNANCY #2:
➕I workout at home for 30 minutes, 5-6 days a week using a Netflix style on demand program, typically with my toddler playing next to me
➕I follow a portion control meal plan probably 90% of the time
➕ I drink a superfood protein shake once a day as a meal replacement
➕I eat 5 meals a day
➕I’ve cut dairy out of my diet except when we eat at family’s house and I can’t avoid it. This has always been a big irritant for me
➕I check into a private accountability group every day with other amazing women on a similar health & fitness journey
➕We only eat out 1-2 times a week total and I try and order as clean as possible
➕I enjoy healthier treats on occasion but not every time I get a cravings
➕I listen to personal development books every day for at least 10-15 minutes
.
Overall I feel so much healthier & stronger both physically and mentally with this pregnancy. It’s amazing to look back and compare how different these pregnancy’s have been.

MOTIVATION:- As a group fitness instructor, it is my responsibility to watch the words that come out of my mouth. And it’s such a minefield, because when you’re filled with adrenaline & sheer passion while teaching, all kinds of things come out of your mouth - like when you use the word “butt” and then wonder if someone’s going to sue you for harassment☺️

But, often times I see instructors, myself included, focus on mildly derogatory forms of motivation. Such as .
.
◾️get those knees higher! You’ll burn more calories!
.
.
◾️it’s not just about what you do here.. make sure you watch those calories when you go home .
.
◾️I know it hurts now, but you’ll thank me tomorrow!
.
.
◾️this is my go to and I need to stop saying this- you’re NOT tired! Keep going! Don’t stop! .

◾️mind over matter. All the pain is in your mind.. .
.
I know exercise is important for both mind & body.. and our bodies grow stronger from it. I know that all too well. But, as instructors, I think we have a HUGE responsibility to make sure those we teach feel SAFE when it comes to their exercise. And that they find pleasure in it - not torture (although, let’s be real, push-ups will always remain torturous)

You know I am ALL about getting my sweat on early and out of the way, but sometimes, it is good to change up the routine or pace.  Normally I pretty much have to schedule my workouts in before the kids wake up or I just won’t get it done. But when we are all home with no big plans for the week, then a mid morning or afternoon workout sounds just fine to me 😊

And I’ll use the morning for some extra 😴, play time with the kiddos, and cooking up some brekky with a hot cup of ☕️

Photos like the one on the left used to pop up in my memory feed and I used to cringe. Embarrassed, not feeling confident at all. And one day 4 years ago I saw a picture of myself much like the one on the left and it was the motivation I needed for change. Before that I had never really taken care of my health. I didn’t exercise, I actually hated it. I didn’t eat well. I made every excuse of why I couldn’t or didn’t need to. But that one day changed everything for me. I knew I wanted to be healthier for my family and children. I wanted to have the energy to take care of them, to run and play with them. I wanted to take care of the one body God had given me and steward it well. It started with small changes every day. Eating better, learning that food was a fuel for my body not a crutch to make enough feel better. I learned what it meant to be strong and push your body to do what it was meant to do; move. What started with an outward changed quickly became a mental and spiritual change as well. Over the last 4 years I’ve lost 60 pounds but I’ve learned how to take care of myself, I’ve learned the proper tools to take care of this one body and enjoy this one life I’ve been given. And I’ve gained a confidence I didn’t know was lost, a deeper appreciation or what my body could do. 
If you’re looking to make a change it’s never to late to take care of yourself and make it a priority. It won’t be over night but it will be worth it I promise. I’m not a certified trainer or fitness guru but I know what I’ve tried and what works. And I know that nutrition and exercise are key. @toneitup helped me change my thoughts on food and exercise- they made it fun and doable. I’m so grateful for the community here and the support. @karenadawn @katrinaascott  thank you for creating something special here for women just like me.

It's Thanksgiving Feast day at preschool for our Lucy girl! 💛🦃 Our sweet girl had to miss school for the first time this year yesterday because she had a fever (and she was devastated 😭). So we were all super relieved that she was back to her normal spunky self this morning and doesn't have to miss her fun school celebration today! It was such blessing to be able to sit with my beanie this morning & do devotions together.

El is my early bird child so right when I was about to start my devotions she woke up & snuggled with me on the couch. So we both took turns reading Power Thoughts & Jesus Calling.
.
Both of the devotions spoke about having a grateful heart all of the time, not just on Thanksgiving. And learning to choose an attitude of thankfulness over anxiety & worry.
.
For me I have always struggled with anxiety & worry. And El is just like me ha ha…so this was the perfect time to talk to her about casting her cares on Jesus & learning to not worry.
.
Her takeaway…”Always have a grateful heart & choose happiness over worry”…
.
These are the moments as mom’s that we have such a lasting impact on our children…

So TAKE these moments mama’s & fill up your kiddos “love tank” with wisdom & the word of God because that is what will leave the most lasting impression on their life.
