You can use tomato powder to enhance the flavor of fresh tomatoes and to make different types of sauces. Did you know you can make your own tomato powder using an Excalibur Dehydrator? Here's how:
Wash the tomatoes.
Slice very thin, 1/8 inch.
Place slices on your Excalibur Dehydrator trays.
Dehydrate at 150F for 5 hours or until dry (or under 125F for raw foodies) Remove, let cool. Then place in blender. Blend to a fine powder and store in a jar or zip lock bag. Add an oxygen absorber if storing for long periods of time.
Brocollini | Burnt potato crisps | Apple Cider Marshmallow
New series! The last series featured a bit of dumpling degustation. So it makes sense to do a series on degustation from restaurants we’ve had here in NZ.
Amuse Bouche: Brocollini with tomato powder and balsamic. Burnt potato crisps with egg mayo. Apple cider marshmallow
These macarons are definitely one of those don't knock it until you have tried it things. If you like savory and sweet then these are worth a try. For the shells I added some of my home made tomato and spinach powder. The fillings are 2 of my deviled egg filling recipes (yes I have more than one😂) the tomato has cheese and Mexican spices and the spinach has my basic recipe. I have to admit I was so nervous trying them and now I'm so glad I did. I love coming up with bite sized nutritious food I can eat and it can be used as a snack or an appetizer as well. There was some concern regarding the softening of the shells because of the filling but I avoid the mush! I am experimenting with more fillings and flavored shells. These are already a hit in my house😊
