Throwback Saturday!! Today I run my 4th or 5th Warrior Dash...I honestly can’t remember. 🤷🏼♀️ The significance of Warrior Dash is that is was my FIRST ever OCR back in May of 2011. For those that don’t know, American OCRs only started to get popular late 2010/early 2011 - our options were Tough Mudder, Spartan, and Warrior Dash. And they weren’t as wide spread across the country as they are now.
Back in 2011, warrior dash chose to come to Louisiana. They called it NOLA but it was about 20 minutes away. It stormed the night before so a good bit of the running was actually flooded.
I remember a man couldn’t swim and tried to drag me down with him - slicing my shin on a rock. 😖
When you finished the race, there was beer and a banana. No changing tents. No shower systems. Convenient for us there was a small lake/pond that most people just used to scrubbed off the caked on mud.
None of that mattered because I was HOOKED! I love the running. I loved the challenge of the obstacles. I loved the atmosphere.
Now 6 year’s later I’m returning to the warrior dash scene because it’s literally 15 minutes from my parents house. Can’t wait to see what I can do!
What’s your first experience with OCRs? Or are you still waiting to conquer one? #warriordash2017#ocr#mudruns#runnergirl#tooeasy#ocrgirl#ilovemudruns#jumpoverfire
