Exercise of the Day:
Incline Bench Press
I do incline Bench Press different than most guys I see at the gym. Most pile weight on the bar and use their same grip and form for regular flat Bench. From what I’ve learned, you don’t work your upper chest as much. That is why I use this form. A closer grip and keeping your elbows flared and parallel to the bar will work the upper chest way more. I’ve been doing it for close to a year now and can tell a huge difference.
the more-than-human gives us so much; how do you reciprocate with gratitude?
life in a self-conscious mountain town in winter can be rather... narrow. so when that tamped down feeling begins with the first snows i refocus my energy on why i am here: for the trees. Moose and Grouse are wonderful neighbors, kindly braying or whooping good tidings from their riparian doorsteps. the first advances of day pronounce themselves across the wisest horizon in pinks and corals. an honest river tells of ki’s icy source with a flow more viscous than during mid-summer’s lazy flush. trees playfully load my jacket’s hood with snow and they prepare to laugh when i, unwittingly, don it for protection from a bite of wind at my neck.
i owe the land my undoing, the forgetting of my Self that has allowed me to dispose of effort in fast-motion. i owe Moose and Doe for the faultless friendship of my steady gait. i owe several birds the trill of my heart. i owe the dark and the never-alone solitude my fortitude in the wild. i owe the trees everything that means something to me; their constant friendship has taught me my implacable confidence, my sturdiness under harsh weather, my delight as the wind passes through me, and my silent need for nothing save the space to finger the cold cold ground with my roots always searching and feeling around precious living detritus that others moving “on” or “over” but not “with” miss entirely.
how in this greatly disparate relationship of intentional but indirect reciprocity can i express my gratitude? i express it by creating a new paradigm of elite athleticism, one whose basis eschews comparative and corporate models of affirmation. i express it by carrying joyful tears in my eyes each time i blur my body into the forests body. i express it by meticulously cultivating these practices of motion - of which the body is only one small yet vital aspect. i express it in ceremony, in prayer each time my body contacts ki’s body. i choose to re-member.

Where are all my quiters at??🙌
I am a quitter, I start things with drive and good intention and half way through I GIVE UP. I let life and excuses take over everytime.
You know how you change bad habits? You create new ones, you show up even when you don't want to! You keep pushing forward even though you feel life pulling you back, you just fucking do it!! Sorry for the language but there is no better word to use. 🙊🙉
Seriously it's ok to be a quitter, own it and grow from it. Today is a new day, do hard things!
Setting forth in the Green Timbers section of the Big Wild Friday afternoon after moving camp from my regular spot. Had never been in this section of the forest and wanted to experience some new country. Plus, it's one of the few places you can get more the a mile from a road, as well as being completely non-motorized. For going in blind, I was pretty happy with locating deer and getting a couple stalks on does, even though I got busted before getting within my 20-yard #tradbow range. #firstlite#TrainToHunt#wildernessathlete#tenzingoutdoors#backcountryhunters
Quick run this morning. Always good to run in the morning due to your body’s willingness to burn more calories. Just make sure not to lift after. If you do plan on running and lifting on the same day, lift before you run or lift later on in the day. When you run you burn your glycogen levels quicker than when you lift. If you run before you lift, you burn that glycogen and then don’t get as much from your workout. Running after lifting forces your body to burn fat for energy instead of the stored glycogen.
Slept in, felt soo good!
And I have a crazy schedule today, 2 weeks suckas before I'm Mrs. JMFB.👰💓So due to time I was going to skip my workout. I was making my coffee and that stupid little angel popped down on my shoulder and reminded me of the commitment I made to finish this program! So here I am pushing play, pressing through my bullshit excuses!
Choose today folks, your brain and your body deserve it.
There can be no off season. I need practice to reach my goals. This year I’ll focus on increasing my draw weight, shooting from farther distances, staying at full draw longer and tighter groups @athensarchery @blueline_bowhunters @officialgoldtip
When I started taking my nutrition more seriously up on the mountain, I feel like I started experiencing the wilderness in a different way. The air felt different as I breathed in up on the ridge tops. I felt more aware of my surroundings, I felt like with every step through the sage brush I was taking away a new life lesson from the mountain. For me, it was part of maturing into the hunter I consider myself today. More concerned with conservation and the well being of our public lands. The appreciation and the respect for all aspects of god's creation became something that weighed heavily on my mind as I stalked through the woods. In my mind I'm thinking, if I'm going to be up here on the mountain and enjoying all of it's glory then it would be disrespectful to the land to not approach every step with a level of effort only known to those in peak physical condition.
Got it done with a good bull super pumped! Been seeing good bulls everyday waiting for them to come down the canyon but never happened so just went inn after them tonight! Huge thanks to @boschertzer1 couldn't have done it without him! Spotting all the bulls when I leave my binoculars at the truck... don't worry he will pay tomorrow 😂#keephammering#traintohunt
