Villa Santa Lucia on route to Chaiten - Day 13. For sure thought we'd score a coffee in this pretty little village as we hit the true Carretera Austral but tried three cafes/ houses/ houses-that-looked-like-cafes to no avail.
Finally on the right track, finding my way back. Back to the mainroad. Back out of this beautiful but wild area. The first time in my journey that I got lost in such a serious way that I had to go back, all the way. With water running out and the evening about to come, this picture was there to celebrate the good ending of this little story. But as you see the expression on my face, I guess the true story is told. At this moment: I felt everything except relieved. Yet. That was soon about to come. **** When I saw this monestry. I decided to ask them if I could stay there for the night. It was dark when I arrived. I apologised. To arrive completely unannounced in the dark. They take me in. As they always do. There's no contradiction bigger then getting lost in nature all by yourself alone and then finding a place where the people are nice and friendly and helping you out in a way they do. As they always do. **** Little monks bring blankets and a pillow and suddenly all out of nothing they create my very own little bedroom. With hot water for coffee and some cookies I fully appreciate this safe haven for the night. Soon I was about to sleep. The good thing about a ride like this: you will sleep like a baby! **** But not for long! 2 hours later, woken up by a hard nock on my door. Police & immigration officers. And as I open the door with a sleepy face I hear the words that I heard before: you cannot stay here for the night. And so they decided to escort me to the next town. In the little amount of time that I collected my stuff there was this little gathering of 14 men. 14! **** As they put my bike on the back of their big police truck and drive me the 45 km left to Inle Lake with friendly faces, happy to do their job. I just look outside, and as I see how the kilometers of downhill pass by there's suddenly this very strong feeling telling me: this is it. Inle Lake will be my final destination for Myanmar. After a small 1.000km, and my 5th little polici interfeer. It was absolutely beautiful, but I think this is it. Soon I will be out if here. **** But well... despite the fact that there was a lot to say: I did manage to reach my final destination for today! :D
