Big day out - 190k with the Guernsey Tri team to visit Faro island at the north of Gotland and see the famous Langhammers rock stacks. Faro was really beautiful and the long ride wasn't so bad 2 days after racing. #islandgames2017#gotland2017#gotland#triathlete#triathlontraining picture of my backside by Amy C @tryatriguernsey
It's easy to share the ups, but it's important to also share the downs because regardless of who you are - we all have them (and much more than you think!)! Tuesday nights are usually about crushing 🚴🏻 hill repeats, but my body (legs & mind) wanted none of that last night after a tough training weekend that I didn't exactly pass with flying colors . I struggled Saturday, and after much contemplating Sunday got done but not quite the way I would like 4 weeks out of another big race! I could have kept pushing for that perfect PR day to get me back on track but instead I went on a stroll around the city, stopped a ton, took 📸, and gave the body and mind a nice little break! Easy to say, much harder to do,but trust the process and listen to your body! 👍 @restdaybrags #e3tricoaching#triathlon#triathlete#ironman#ironmantraining#swimming#cycling#cyclingshots#running#trichicks#swimbikerun#dreambig#dreambigworkhard#neverquit
4000 yards in the pool this morning. If you want to be significantly humbled, just swim next to the swim team; those little guys are sooooo fast! However, I do advise to actually push start on your Garmin, or your coach won't get all of your laps and you'll feel obliged to swim further. 😂
I borrowed the swim team fins and they gave me blisters. I'll be searching for some fins today with a little more room for my bony feet and toes. 👣
Still feeling the finish of my first 70.3 @ironmantri #im703cda Mostly feeling it in my legs. Happy for the finish and thankful for all the support. Big thanks to @boebeth for allowing me to train so much. Also have to thank my coach Paul @ #kinneymultisport for getting me so well prepared. 🏊The swim has been a struggle physically and mentally for the last 2+ years since I started learning and the swim on Sunday went far better than I imagined.
🚴The bike went very smooth. Climbs on the course were more than manageable thanks to training in hilly terrain of the #bayarea .
🏃I paces the run well and other than cramps in my legs at mile 9-13.1, I felt great.
Lots of room to improve and excited for the next one!

I Love Canadá 🇨🇦
One thing I'm scared of is needles. Last time I got a shot I cried. But I also know that donating blood is for something good. So I opted to face the fear of needles and go for it. I did look away for the finger prick and when they stuck in the needle in my arm. The guy who did it also made sure to cover it so I wouldn't see it as the blood was coming out.
Now that it's done, I feel good 😄 I did something good. And i got some yummy snacks after. Ready for Wednesday!! #donatebloodwednesday#redcross#ifacedmyfears#ihateneedles#butididit
So IM Buffalo Springs 70.3 was a disaster. 🙃
The bike started off well, but by the end my knee was bothering me a little and I didn't even make it a mile in the run before it had shut me down. Despite my best efforts to stretch or run/walk, my IT band pain persisted. I resigned myself to walking the entire 13.1 miles and my 5 hour 70.3 ended up as 6 hours and 45 mins... I nearly gave up before starting the 2nd run loop and I'm honestly not sure if it was worth it. That was a tough, lonely 13.1 miles. I'm sure the disappointment will eventually fade, but I'm not sure I ever want to race another 70.3.
In the meantime, it's time to rest, recover, and get back to it! 📷 : Kris Keele
So it looks like my road to becoming an #ironman is on hold. Yesterday I saw my physio after everything that's happened recently to help me get my dexterity back in my right hand. She pieced together everything that's happened to me in the last few years and identified some pretty big ways in which my body has been stressed and neglected that I never saw and pointed out some pretty obvious signs of overtraining, underperformance and poor recovery and health that I've ignored. I've been banned from cardio and told to try yoga (least flexible person ever) until I can understand what my body is trying to tell me and until it is 100% back on track. This came as a bit of a blow that I'm still reeling from as my whole life has been organised around exercise - from swimming to running - it's all I know and all I've defined myself by. So it looks like I'm going to have to find out what to do without the trainers or the pedals or the goggles for a while. On a positive note she did say that if I took enough time and listened to my body right then I will be able to get back on track for an iron man - just probably not in the near future, if anything I'm now more determined than ever and this time I'll do it right. So here is where my #roadtoironman starts - rock bottom - level 0. This time I'll rise as the whole damn fire (and I won't get ill every other week). I'm putting this on here, not for sympathy, but because a lot of my followers are fellow runners and triathletes - look after yourself and listen to your body - don't come back to square one.
Don't know if it's possible to find a better view of #Manhattan from a bike, but if anyone knows of one, please let me know and I'll be there! 🏙🚴🏽
50 miles on the #ttbike last night with a few hill segments over in the Palisades Interstate Park. The road conditions were fairly well maintained. If you plan to race on a hilly #triathlon course, make sure you get some #cycling climbing in during your #training . You will feel a lot more confident and post better times! #TriLife
