Great news. The votes have been counted and verified and I’m delighted that I have qualified for the 2018 European Duathlon Championships to be held in Ibiza in October. If you or anyone has a business who may be interested in supporting or sponsoring me in some way please do get in touch. Our sport is entirely self funded and sometimes without outside support things aren’t possible. Thanks to those who have supported me In the past or continue to support me. **IRON COWBOY** 🏊🏼🚴🏻🏃🏽
Before this event i was going through a low phase, i got sick and didnt feel like training. Couldnt believe how a week before i was doing 4-5 hour bike ride and 3+ hours run and now 40 min on my bike felt like a punishment. But these words got into me and i wanted to share them with you:
1) "Plan A": if you are tired of starting over than STOP giving up.
2) try to do new things! -go through that uncomfortable feeling of doing something new.
-face your fears
-set new standard -have courage
-a Big desire to keep going (no matter the obstacles)
"I truly believe thag HARD WORK can beat talent, when TALENT doesnt work hard" 💪🏼😅
And something very important: "A high tolerance for monotony is a decidely, underrated SUPERPOWER" 🔸 Learn to work in the basic 🔸
Thank you @ironcowboyjames for sharing your experience and proving one more time that it's all POSSIBLE when you believe in yourself, work hard and know the reasons that push you going further. #ElSalvador#ironcowboy#triathlon#triathlete#swimbikerun#ironman#goals#ironmantraining#IMCZ#momlife#50ironmans50states50days#AnythingIsPossible

Want to Stop ⛔️ Running Injuries? Focus On The GLUTES
Strong Knees Series Ep8️⃣
In Ep. 7️⃣ we introduced that the glutes are much more important to strengthen the the quadiceps muscles and specifically the VMO. .
Not let’s get more specific - we want to largely target the gluteus medium and gluteus minimus. There muscles are on the side of the hip and abduct the thigh = the move the lower limbs out away from the body. .
⚪️ While having a strong gluteus maximus is important for just about everything including knee issues, the min+med often get ignored because we typically only move forward and backward in life and the gym, and rarely side-to-side. .
⚪️ Especially with running, the body needs to be stable side-to-side to prevent hip drop (shown) and side-bending at the knee.
🔴 Side bending at the knee, which we call “dynamic values”, puts pressure on the knee cap (PFPS Ep. 5️⃣) and the medial knee (MCL, Joint Ep. 1️⃣) and contributes to knee pain. We noted in Ep. 7️⃣ that the knee only likes to bend back and forth like a door hinge and takes twisting and sideway movement.
Strong and proper activation of the gluteus medius and minimum is important to help prevent this and reduce knee pain with running. . ❓Why do the gluteus medium and minimum stop activating and get weak you ask? .
🅰 Partly is under activity from the desklife and not practising moving sideways. 🅱 Partly it is due to a Core Problem in the spine and nervous system leading to stress on the Superior Gluteal Nerve that does not activate this muscles as much as they should.
The fix is two fold of course = strengthen these muscles to make them bigger and stronger, and make sure the nerves are sending the correct signals so you can be healthy.
📝 What are your favourite glute and running injuries drills? 📝
My ride a few days ago wasn't about epic power numbers - huge speed or hour after hour after hour.... For me, it was a basic aerobic ride with my only two goals being to enjoy myself (the weather in Colorado has been awesome) & to stay in the big fear 100% of the time. 🙂😮
Happily - I can say both of these were true. I tackled modest hills that even just last year I'd whine about riding up - and not even be close to the big gear then. Progress as a Triathlete takes time & tests your mind more than anything. Stay Strong out there everyone! 💪
That was a tough one! 14 mph winds may not seem like much but when they are headwinds for most of your ride - I had to push! Mamabear was tired!!😂As soon as I finished this ride with my boo, @_thatfitcouplelife_ we made green smoothies and peanut butter sandwiches and inhaled them! Sean and I always try to train together when our schedules allow it - swim, bike, run & lift. So glad we enjoy the same things! Happy Thursday everyone!!💙💙💙
