Day 17 of #ayearofyoga2018 challenge with @cyogalab #parsvakukkutasana - I don’t have great twists to begin with so trying to do this in #tripodheadstand is even more challenging! I never could twist enough to get my opposite knee over to my arm to even try to lift up my head. Definitely gonna have to work on this!! 😆
*Head-Free Tripod Headstand* .
I’ve posted other head-free variations of Headstand for those of you who prefer to not put weight on your heads. The previous ones required more blocks, and this one only requires 2! .
🙌Place 2 folded blankets or 2 books and place the blocks on top of it. Make sure there is space of 3 inches or so between your setup and the wall. .
🙌Place your hands directly behind the blocks and place your shoulder on the blocks. Make sure that you place the blocks so that it is on the fleshy part of your shoulders and not the shoulder bones themselves. Also, make sure your there is space between your head and the floor. .
🙌Squeeze your outer arms in. You want to create a 90 degree angle with your arms and your shoulders. (A common mistake is taking the arms too wide which destabilizes the pose.) .
🙌Walk your feet towards your hands until you feel your hips stack over your shoulders or as close as you can get. Take an inhale and as you exhale draw your ribs together and down as if you were wearing a corset. Then taking your feet wide rise up onto the balls of your feet. Sweep your feet out towards the sides of the room as if you were trying to touch the sides of the room with your toes. Then take your legs around and up. .

💟 The crown chakra, aka sahasrara , which means the thousand-petaled lotus in Sanskrit, is where the masculine and feminine forces, Shiva and Shakti, are said to unite and imbue the meditator with tremendous clarity and awakening.
It is located at the top of the head or just above the crown of the head, beyond the physical body itself. It sits like a crown, radiating upwards, hence its name.
It is primarily associated to the pituitary gland, and secondarily to the pineal and the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus and pituitary gland work in pair to regulate the endocrine system. Because of its location, the crown chakra is closely associated with the brain and the whole nervous system.
Note that energetically, the seventh chakra has a connection with the first chakra, as they both are at the extremities of the chakra system.
Associated with spiritualism and enlightenment, it links individual consciousness with universal consciousness. It is represented by the colors violet and white. It governs your intuition, connection to the spiritual, and links you to the universal life force energy. When the crown chakra is balanced, you are thoughtful, open-minded, and feel at ease and in harmony with the world around you.
Now set your intention for this practice. the themes here are vastness; limitlessness; unity; seeing yourself in all beings to cultivate compassion; accepting your place and your part in the universe; awakening of consciousness; opening to spiritual realizations.
Although meditation is widely considered the best yoga practice for opening and balancing the crown chakra, there are several asanas that help boost healing of the seventh chakra.
Best poses to activate it are all headstands Supported Headstand Salamba Sirsasana or variations like tripod headstand, full
Lotus Padmasana and savasana corpse pose
Woo finally got that full #padmasana with no hands! I got a little ambitious and attempted it in #tripodheadstand (even though I strongly prefer regular #sirsasana ) because I thought I might be able to lift off my head into #urdhvakukkutasana ...haha nope. Also this is my tiny Airbnb room that I love.
