Recorded last night due to no phone service: Day 2. Well officially day 1 being here for a full day
This was my first time at this location. Even though I never knew this was here, it seems many people from all over have already discovered this area. It is getting nearly impossible to find a place free from people in Colorado anymore. Is this a good thing or a bad one?

This post is about me being an idiot and making a mistake. I'm telling you guys about it because we are all human and you might too make this mistake someday. So we were rappelling ancient art. You rap down to the party ledge, then it's one double-rope rappel to the ground. Well, @dj2themaximum wasn't quite sure about this "to the ground" business. He couldn't see the ends of the ropes, and ended up stopping at the first belay anchors instead. I rapped down to join him and, after we determined that the ropes did in fact reach the ground, he continued rapping. What I didn't think of was that I was now at an anchor that wasn't in line with the ropes. When he went off rappel, I couldn't reach the ropes to rap down. After trying and failing many times to flick the rope over a bulge, I got creative. I had some gear on me and fashioned a grappling hook with a few cams and a jacket. After swinging my grappling hook at the rope a few times, I was able to catch it and pull it towards me. So the lesson here is, if your anchor is not in line with the rap ropes, always clip the ropes into a directional at your anchor. But, if you fail to do that, you can in fact make a grappling hook with some gear and/or a jacket. Guys, I know this is a rookie mistake. Well aware. But it happened. And everyone is a rookie at some point. I know it was dumb, but I also know I'm not the first person to make that mistake, and certainly not the last. We can all learn from each other's mistakes, and I'd rather share mine and potentially help someone then pretend like I don't make mistakes at all.
