"Ok crazy tortoise people.... I recently posted some cute pictures of my happy Littlefoot since its been awhile and people always ask where he's at. But unfortunately I got quite a few comments back stating that my little guy is badly pyramiding. So I just wanted to post a picture here of the first day I got Littlefoot in April 2016 from my local stock shop. As you all can tell he's pyramiding, as we're all the other tortoises at the shop but i couldnt save them all. I am fully aware of the pyramids. And doing my best to help him, he is a very picky eater and somedays he doesn't want to eat at all, so if you do have any food suggestions or tips please let me know. Other then that he is a very happy tortoise, loves being outside and loves his cool showers under the warm sun. Thank you all for your conserns 😊🐢❤

They don’t call them “Old Red Legs” for nothing! A colloquial name for North American Wood Turtles (Glyptemys insculpta) in some areas of their range, “Old Red Legs” is a pretty appropriate depiction of the species. However, Wood Turtles can exhibit variations in average skin coloration from yellow to red, and everything in between, depending on the geographic range of their population. Even adjacent populations can have an overall difference in the color and tone of the skin! This particular specimen is a male found during one of my stream surveys for the species in the Mid-Atlantic. Protected at the state and provincial level throughout their range, the Wood Turtle continues to be illegally exploited for the international pet trade, as well as suffers from continued habitat destruction and degradation. To help preserve this species in the wild, please never take a wild Wood Turtle home, and report any sightings to your state or provincial wildlife agency! #woodturtle#conservation#preservation#turtle#turtlesofinstagram#stream#beautiful#naturallybeautiful#stunning
