The fragmented and segmented way of thinking that existed before the invention of written language seems to have ironically been revived with the introduction of new media. The logical and structured stream of consciousness has disappeared and meaning changed to images floating adrift on the computer monitor. As if laughing at Saussure, who insisted on a defined pairing between the signifier and the signified, the segmented signifiers of today encounter new meanings and produce unaffixed signifieds.
In reading a book, the reader must follow the logical reasoning presented in the text for a prolonged period of time, and one’s consciousness is completely barred from cutting in. Readers accustomed to a linear logical way of thinking and the reader experience may feel themselves at loss in light of the deconstructed, fractured way of thinking brought on by the new media paradigm. However, for children born and raised in the digital generation, it is natural to approach thinking like assembling the pieces of a fragmented puzzle. We may consider that the difference in consciousness between the generations is a separation caused by media. It was a work in progress in 2013.

It's amazing how time flies so fast once you start drawing a scripted word. Adjusting Stroke thickness , moving things around, it's a gradual process of refinement and so rewarding ! You can see by the Faces here ! completely absorbed by their challenge. Slow typography is a sustainable activity ! Making good type instead of quickly consuming type is sustainable practice ! The sense of achievement is incredibly rewarding ! Our FINAL class and your last chance to escape level up is next weekend 2 and 3 December ! #typography#pencildrawing#sketchbook#typedaily#typographic#customlettering#handlettering
《Design; Another language》 is the first exhibition taking place at the dedicated design exhibition room. The ten most internationally recognized contemporary Korean designers have participated in this exhibition, and the exhibit acquired the special meaning by the designers who all produced new pieces of work to illustrate different themes that the contemporary design has experimented.
The participating designers have long had deep interests in seeking different ways to understand an object. They all enjoy using various and unconstrained expressions, and have suggested new modeling language to provide a different angle in viewing the conventional methods and systems of how to perceive and express an object.
Instead of following temporary trend or pursuing only joy of completion in design, the 《Design; Another language》 combines different forms of output made of each designer’s own language to illustrate work process, which transforms mere conventional definition of an object into a new language system. Also, the ten designers have all encouraged visitors to find the last piece of the puzzle from their works, which can be the key in the journey to find the new system of language. I wish you will enjoy finding the clue throughout your journey of exploring this exhibit.
This poster was commissioned by Korea National Museum of Contemporary Art. I made an exhibit identity with typography. The dynamically moving typography implies a variety of designs. I worked on the project in 2013.

This exhibition begins with a look at the formative language of contemporary sculpture revealed in the sculpture of Kim Jong Young in the beginning of Korean modern sculpture. In addition, I would like to examine the aspect of Korean abstract sculpture through representative works of Kim Jong-yong. Furthermore, I would like to inquire about the works where organic and geometrical forms related to "nature", which is the source of artistic inspiration of Kim Jong- This is an introduction to the works that are reflected. I would also like to take a look at one aspect of Korean sculpture, which has been followed by the artistic achievements of the East and West, by introducing the works of Paul Cézanne, an artist whom he admired, and Cho Jae-hee. Kim Jong - young 's art museum can be defined as "beauty of the unfinished" that emphasizes the inner attitude rather than the shape of the work. This is because his work as an artist, his pursuit of pure pleasure and freedom, It leads to a playground. I would like to introduce to you an archive showing the sculptures, calligraphy and calligraphy of his works and attitudes of life as well as Kim Jong-young's aspect as an educator educated at Seoul National University.
