Navy and red are such a classic and chic combo! This @cottonandsteel fabric goes with pretty much anything - these red handles look amazing or how about some caramel tan ones? Or orange? Yummy. This Cut Glass Chain design is on sale at the moment and when it's gone it's gone, so if you want to get your hands on some, you know what to do.
Oh me oh my - feast your eyes on this gorgeous girl! Made by @hellolisalam in a lush @riflepaper print @cottonandsteel fabric, we've named her 'Russian Princess' and she's on sale in the shop now as a finished bag #oneofakind
For the final theme of the #lovebagsmakebags challenge #youwearitwell we love this fab pic from Amy @stitchedbystarlight of her, her Mum and Grandmother all proudly sporting their very own version of one of Amy's bags.
We've absolutely LOVED having a sneaky peek into all your sewing spaces, from the enviably tidy and beautifully arranged @stitchedbystarlight to the gorgeous creative chaos of @flocksandblocks but at this time of year sewing in bed like @waterg18 just has to be the one of the cosiest options!
To say thanks for your continued support during our topsy turvy 2017, we're delighted to offer 15% off at U-Handbag all weekend! We have some great new products launched today too including an updated Trinity Bag (available as a pattern AND a kit!) and some pretty gift packs that mix colour-coordinated collections of our current fabric and bag-making goodies. We'll definitely share more on both these soon, but it's been such a busy and exciting week that our Instagram account may pop if it gets any fuller 😉
Morning All! Wellcome to day 5 of the @uhandbag photo challenge. Where do you like to do it? Let us know where you make it. Remember to tag #spacetosew#lovebagsmakebags .

Another pic for the @uhandbag challege, today's theme is 'I made it my way'. I made this bag some time ago using recycled cord from some old trousers together with some pretty lilac fabrics. I do love transforming something old and past it into something new and useful!
So today's prompt for the @uhandbag challege is #myfavourite and I thought I'd share some of my favourite sewing books. Of course the top 2 are bag making books from the wonderful Lisa Liam, I also like sewing clothes and my other 2 faves are from @tillybuttons and @lisacomfort. I am always looking out for new ones so I'd love to know what your favourite sewing books are....
Today's prompt on the @uhandbag insta challenge is #baglady I have been so lucky to make a lot of bags in this first year of the Happy Squirrel Co. here's some that have gone to happy homes, between etsy and custom orders I'm up to 82 and will hit over 100 if the craft fair goes well on December 3rd, my mission next year is to follow patterns as the only one I've managed so far was the necessary clutch wallet the rest I make I kinda wing it! #uhandbag#instachallenge#lovebagsmakebags#baglady#ncw#messengerbag#handbags
It's been great seeing your #flashyourstash pics today and we are loving this colourful collection from @waterg18. Such lovely styling. There's still loads of time to show us your stash too if you want to join in the fun! #lovebagsmakebags
Enormous drum roll for the @uhandbag #lovebagsmakebags#instachallenge that kicks off TODAY! Today's theme is #flashyourstash so we want to see what you've been hiding in your sewing room/ bag/ big box at the back of the cupboard. Tag your post with today's prompt #flashyourstash as well as #lovebagsmakebags and please feel free to tag anyone else you think might like to play too. Can't wait to see what you've got in there!
Day 2 #bpsewvember I'm already a day behind, but this is my sentimental item - it's the first bag I ever made and I loved it! I was so pleased that I had made it myself, and I used it all the time. It was lovely to get it out of the cupboard this morning and remember that feeling of achievement 💕
We are beyond excited to announce that we are launching our very own #lovebagsmakebags#instachallenge ! It will run for seven days starting on Monday 20th November and we really hope you'll join us! Please feel free to tag any crafty friends you think might want to join in as well. We're giving you a little heads up on the prompts here. There's a £50 voucher to spend with us up for grabs too (see the uhandblog for lots more details). We can't wait to meet you and see all your pics. Are you in?!
Did some free motion machine embroidery on this Snazzy Slouch (pattern from #chriswdesigns ) made with recycled denim. Poppies one side, daisies the other. Hardware from #bobbingirl , porcelain blue 22” handbag zipper from #uhandbag
Just finished my second U-Totia tote bag from @handbag definitely better with the woven interfacing. Made the corners from some faux leather from stash and handles with straps from my old wheelchair - think it works. The Chicago screws were really fiddly but certainly add a nice touch 😉#utotia#uhandbag#totebag#lecienfabrics#linen#woveninterfacing
Finished my wool tweed rucsac!!!! A true #labouroflove 😄😄 I made everything myself except the metal parts and the actual adjustable back strap. It has two large front pockets with very strong magnetic fasteners. Inside is huge with a good sized inner zipped pocket and 3 slip pockets. There is also a reinforced base for stability. It really did take me a long time due to work and the fact that my sewing machine didn't like the wadding I used to give the bag structure. (it kept sticking to the feed dogs). Lots of tequniques learned. Snaps, grommets, inner pockets, binding and D-ring attachments. PHEW!!! Will never make another - though I have a fair bit of tweed left! This will be my in flight bag for my hols to Germany and Iceland. 🎒🌍📸🛫😊😊😊 #thecraftytuna#handmade#handmadebags#handmadehandbags#uhandbag#tweed#rucsacs#rucsac#backpack#backpacks#handbags#travelbags
Another Swoon Mabel this time with a super case handle from u-handbag so I used matching brass hardware for the twist lock and feet from bobbin girl. I added a full width divided slip pocket again. #swoonpatterns#uhandbag#bobbingirl
I'm trying to finish this khaki tweed rucsac/backpack in time for my holidays. Woollen tweed fabric with cotton bias binding trim and tabs and metal hardware to finish. I cheated and bought a ready made strap which will be attached last. It's got a light coloured flowery cotton lining and will have a zipped interior pocket and 3 stitched interior pockets. Will try to finish it by tomorrow. 😁😁😁💜💜💜💜 Based on a pattern by Lisa Lam of U-handbag fame.
