Overpronation seems to be quite common in injured runners these days! ➖
I train in 3 different shoes for versitality and as a form of training WITHIN training, to improve my pronation and run faster times!
We often forget that our feet need training too!
🔹#Overpronation (Excessive inward roll of the ankle from the central point of the achilles) typically result from a range of things. A few common ones are: weak ankles/arches, flat arches, an injury, heel strike, weak glutes, or an injury.
🏋️One thing to remember is that injury CAN cause overpronation and overpronation CAN cause injury
➖ 🔸Relying on stability shoes to correct imbalances and a pronation does not encourage a neutral gait. If we do not use our feet and arches, they become weaker.
If you have an overpronation, invest in a pair of stability running shoes and a pair of neutrals.
Figure out your threshold distance (distance that can be ran in neutral shoes without injuring)
Train in neutrals under threshold and stability for anything over! Eg. This could be 5K (Threshold) to start
🌟💪After training in neutrals under threshold for 2 months I undertook a marathon with NO support and survived! Through rotating shoes in training along with other conditioning techniques (I will share in posts to come), I managed to change my Gait, and you can too 😊 🏃

So now it's launched I can a finally say 2018 will be absolutely awesome. I'm extremely honoured and proud to be asked by @boltonhospice to be an ambassador for their 2018 mind over marathon challenge. The goal is to help 10 people who have never run a marathon achieve the absolute high you get of training for then completing 26.2 Miles. The challenege is fully supported throughout in strength, nutrition, recovery, training plans but the most awesome part of it all is the participants get to run with me and few buddies👍😁 @yorkshiremarathonseries is the goal and I can't wait to get started. Would you rather run 8:00 mile or skipping for 10mins? According to Science Daily, 10 minutes of skipping rope is about equivalent to running an 8-minute-mile. So if you don’t like running why not give the skipping rope a go✊

TGI Friday... here is my very small medal collection looking festive for the Christmas season. Tonight I am having a rest, ready for another run tomorrow. I may or may not be drinking @rekorderligcider 😏🎄🎊🎁❄️⛄️
Double run day = ☑️ Granted, this morning’s run was only 4 x 400m, but I feel as though the time on my feet was mentally quite challenging - after all, I’ve donned my running trainers 3 times in 24 hours. 😳💁🏻♀️ I also broke the 100k mark for @runup2christmas today with a 5k after work, making my 2nd checkpoint in just 15 days. 150k seems a lot more achievable and leaves me less than 5k a day to hit it. 👊🏼 I decide not to count my track running towards my #ru2c total, simply because I want to be able to see all my running data on @garminuk and @strava 🤓.

Today was also an exciting day for my running goals because I met up with the awesome @kerryjmccarthy who is kindly coaching me for the @londonmarathon. 🏃🏻♀️ We talked all things running, including how we’ll work around CrossFit, rowing and #redjanuary , plus all the events I’ve entered, as well as nutrition, footwear, etc. Kerry has run an incredible 44 marathons, so I’m pretty sure I’m in safe hands! 💪🏼 I can’t wait to get started, although Kerry had a glimpse of how much of a pain I’m going to be to work with... especially when I told him I’ve signed up to do @spartanraceuk two weeks before the marathon, and @tribalclash Portugal two weeks after. 😳🤦🏻♀️ He basically had no words at that point! 😂.

I am MASSIVELY looking forward to getting training now though, and hopefully ticking off a load of goals for 2018. 🙌🏼 Those of you doing #vlm2018 - have you planned out your marathon training yet?

10k on the treadmill done! ✅ officially over the 50k mark for @runup2christmas 👏🏻 I know it's not much but I'm happy seeing as I'm injured! I'm still optimistic I can reach 100! 🤞🏻 I wonder if Christmas Day counts 🤔 If it does i may have to fit a run in!

Decisions, decisions..... I’ve worn @adidasuk for the last few years and my current pair of Supernova ST’s are reaching their mileage limit plus can’t seem to shake a niggle in my left leg.
Been hearing good things hearing good things about @on_running shoes so wondering whether to try their latest Cloudflyer’s, but wondering whether it’s just hype???
Anybody got any experience with On shoes or switched from Adidas to On??
