I walked in through the door from work, walked straight to the running draw, kitted up and went out the door before I had a chance to talk myself out of it. I started to run, nice and easy. Before I knew it I suddenly felt the best I had felt all day, I didn’t feel sick, I felt like I was just born to the world. Running does that to me. It would’ve been so easy to quit, say that’s it, that’s a wrap, blow the candle out and hide away...

It got me thinking during my mile, that is me. I have spent most of my life stopping when I’m almost finished. Validate myself into stopping and then just not continuing. It’s inherent. I don’t like it, so how do I change it? I go when I don’t want to, because I know who I am. I know the result before I take the action...

The truth is, I need R.E.D January for so many reasons, for my own mental well being. It’s a constant battle, some days I win and some days I lose. You cannot win every fight but what that does not mean is; that you shouldn’t fight because you may not win...

Oftmals ist es schwer solche Ruhetage einzuhalten. Der Körper braucht zwischendurch die Ruhetage. Entweder von harten Trainingstagen oder für harte Trainings die kommen. Bei mir, von den Hügelintervalle am Mittwoch oder für den bereits morgen geplanten 10km Lauf im 10km Renn-Tempo. 🤨

Stop 🛑 hold that thought. Don’t think for one second this has been easy for me. I have struggled body image issues for a lot of my life. 10 years ago it got really bad that I had a borderline eating disorder.

I NEVER felt skinny enough. You guys I was 99 pounds and at 5’4 that is NOT ok.  You know what even at 99 pounds I thought I was not “skinny” enough. .
I have come so far but I still have my days. Becoming a coach has helped me beyond my wildest imagination. I have learned healthy habits. I have learned how to enjoy eating not fear it. But most of all I have learned how to love ❤️ and have confidence in myself. .
Everyday is not easy but everyday I get better and stronger. And on those hard days I am so incredibly thankful I have a whole team of people behind me to remind me of how far I have come and pick me up. If you need some support I got ya because no one should go it alone.

It’s been a whole week, bet you’ve missed my face right? On a more serious note, I’ve felt quite distant the last week….This has all been down to work situations and I can honestly say it has been the hardest week of my working life!!! Not helped by added pressure on myself, ‘you haven’t exercised’ ‘you eating too much’ ‘blah blah blah’, basically it’s been a shit week on all grounds. All that said, realising it isn’t going to last forever, knowing a bad week isn’t going to change a great few years of hard work and it’s all in your head! After pouring my heart out to @addiedoesstuff and living inside my head for a little bit, I had the best runch. My last mile was the fastest mile I’ve run in months, and it barely felt like more than a moderate effort. Some things are hard to open up about, but when I finally did, it felt like shedding the dead skin of the situation and now I can finally move on. I’m so grateful to have a great coach who asks questions and never stops encouraging me, even when I’m not being very coachable.

My last mile was the fastest mile I’ve run in months, and it barely felt like more than a moderate effort. Some things are hard to open up about, but when I finally did, it felt like shedding the dead skin of the situation and now I can finally move on. • _ Super-hard run w/ some pauses all the way. My body is surely still expelling bacteria and dealing with the extra kilograms I recently put on... The point was to go to for 22k, where the first 11k should be quick with pauses mostly, on asphalt, - and the last 11k of the 2nd half slower without pauses, and on muddy-trails... 🙂
• _ But I ended only being able to perform 17,5k... At around 8,5k my right calve got somehow 'locked' with some sharp pain. I made a long pause to stretch the calve, and returned carefully doing the last 9k mostly on soft mud and soft grass on a slow pace...
• _ Happy I finished - but the mental & body's stubborn tightness & pain that's making me stop more often than I want was dreadfully upsetting . . . Occasionally I enjoy solo runs for reflection time. But I am so much more of a running extrovert as I gain energy from being around others .

Ran almost 7 miles indoors including 20 minutes on a stairmill to prep for Tackle the Tower. The five solo miles just dragged on forever today. But then I bumped into my friend Theresa and we started talking about the kids and two miles absolutely flew by! .
My good running friends have already declared they plan to take turns running shifts with me at my 24 hour race. #runningfriendsarethebest .

I'm going to have to resort to a life of crime to pay for these races or become rich. NYC marathon just opened up and I just emptied my pockets for a few races already. 
Nevertheless,  no time for the bitching. The training won't stop,  race or not.  My muscles are yelling at me something mean and it's only day five of my triathlon/ultra marathon training.  Heading to the gym before it closes and might go for a late night run depending on how I feel. 
My schedule was severely altered but this is life of being an adult and a parent.  Despite how hectic my days may get,  I have to keep going.  Besides,  I'll be on @abc7ny @hereandnowradio on Sunday at noon while I'm completing my half marathon with @nyrr. If I'm going to miss my televised appearance on tv,  I need to at least make sure I put in work to make it worth it.  I'll dvr it anyway. 🙃

It was nearly 60 degrees in Utah today!  Even though I’m working night shift 4 of 4 tonight, I got up after 3.5 hours of sleep to run the trails and get muddy with my buddy!  It was like running up an ice luge to the overlook, and we skated down...and it was fun all along the way!  Time for the ❄️ to come back this weekend and make the brown go away!  Nice little 5-miler before my last night in!  Totally worth the lack of sleep!

For the past few weeks i’ve been following a new training program in prep for the endurance-distance races i’ll be doing later this Spring/Summer.  It’s brought on a few unexpected training obstacles. I’ve been struggling in getting used to slowing my pace down to what’s prescribed on my easy recovery run and long run days, which is usually around 8:52/mile.  Today was no exception. I started out at something close to that kind of split but just couldn’t keep it. It feels weird/wrong to run slow on purpose when I know it’s not just for a warm up. I started out at something close to that kind of split but just couldn’t keep it. It feels weird/wrong to run slow on purpose when I know it’s not just for a warm up.
