When I think back on my very first trail race, it didn't go quite as planned.
I got black toes from hitting the toe box of my shoes on the descents. My feet bled from blisters created by fitted cotton socks. I bonked hard on my way to the finish line when all I knew was to drink water and occasional Gatorade. In the end my legs felt like they got whacked by baseball bats and pushing a shopping cart through a grocery store was a daunting task for several days later. But in time I learned how to train, how to select proper gear, how to fuel and how to be the best possible athlete.
My running partners tonight.
When your 7 year old ASKS to go for a run with you!! And then probes you with 20 questions about where I run early in the morning, how I do it, do I ever walk, etc etc... I think I am rubbing off on her!!!
It is pissing down in Wellington but here is a photo from the beautiful Far North (Mangonui) earlier this year when we were up there for a wedding, much better times #embracethespace .
