If Google Earth 🌏 had taken a picture over the Peak District this afternoon, in a tiny corner you’d have seen the happiest girl in the world. So happy, in fact, that she cried (isn’t that just the BEST feeling?). The best run I’ve EVER done, in a place that might just be my new favourite on the planet. My feet were flying, it was effortless and easy. I felt like I was floating, gliding over the ridge. There was ice, slippy mud, inches of snow, bog, sun, hail, the lot; and for a few hours I forgot about EVERYTHING else. I was being buffeted by icy winds, battered by shards of snow, but I didn’t care one bit. Suddenly I didn’t mind frozen toes and soggy feet. I didn’t mind slipping. I just wanted to keep going and going and going and I felt like I now knew what feeling free was! 😁 I had the ridge all to myself (the weather may or may not be to blame), a sledge would have been worth packing in my kitbag, I had a stand off with a sheep (I won), there were grouse cooing, I was so high up a military helicopter whirred past below me, the sun came out, I waded through a stream by accident and I got lost and followed footprints through the snow like a good girl scout 👣 . I’m still a little bit teary and there’s fizzles down my spine. I loved every single second. Then I had a party to the Spice Girls and JT all the way home 🎤. I feel on top of the world. Today is the best day I’ve had in a very very long time 😍🏃🏽♀️. As I wait for the final copy of the book I wrote about VIETNAM to be finalized (stay tuned!!! It’s out within the next 2 weeks!😍📚) ... I have taken advantage of this time to write on Patagonia while it it still fresh.
The experiences. The people. The thoughts that go through your mind while trekking solo all day with no music. The excitement. Some terrifying moments. Some crazy moments that involve the police! All of it. It’s going to raw and rugged just like the terrain I trekked because you are in your head a lot. It will be a guide to what I did and where I stayed as well as what or if I would do anything different. I can’t wait to publish it later this year. ☺️
In the meantime, the EXACT same type of information and thoughts and adventures has been poured into my Vietnam book and that is out SO soon!!!!!!
I’m literally dying to share it with you all! It’s an easy read in my own fun and unique writing style with adventures, finding your inner truths and freedom and maybe some romance mixed in.
So much is happening right now and in the coming months, I feel like my head is spinning but one thing is for certain, I’ve found my dream path and I’m full force ahead on making it into a reality. The Lone Wolf returns. Had an itch for a mile 50 mile run. -52.41- It was nothing scenic or anything to write home about. Ran solo thru the night. A spiritual journey of the sort....Started out in my Newton’s. Oldies, but I trust they’ll get me going. Mile 20 I switched to the New Balance 880’s. Love the heal support for the middle distance. Then switched to the Speedgoat 2. Just after mile 40. Yes, a trail shoe, but I needed a moral boost and they’re my favorite shoes. And of course hot tea and a smile afterwards. Morning run in the snow ❄️ A little challenging with all the snow that fell in the night, but fun! After my run I started on some much needed snow clearing in our driveways. It started snowing quite heavily while I was shovelling, and by the time I was done with my own driveway, and my two closest neighbors, it was time to do my own again... 🙊 I have sneaky suspission I won't be able to reach my target mileage for this week, but under these circumstances I'll just take what I can get and try and keep my #runstreak going 😆👍🏼 #spiritfriidrett#1MillionSkritt#winterwonderland
Track Friday, it’s a thing right? 🏃🏼♀️🔃
8 x 400m with 2 min recovery. I was aiming for ten reps but I gave those eight *everything* I had, finishing strong & leaving everything on the track.
Average moving pace 6:15 min/mile 💥
Pretty damn pleased with this session. Yes, I have done 400’s quicker, but for where I am now with my training I couldn’t have asked for or done any more. I went into rep one aiming for 6:40 pace... smashed that! 👊🏻
I only started using the track last summer but I’ve surprised myself at how much I’m enjoying these sessions. It’s good to do something different, to vary my runs & they’re proving to be a great benchmark to how my training is progressing.
Alongside a 2 mile warm-up trot & a 2 mile cool-down plod, a solid 6 mile Friday workout 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️
