The other night we stopped by Dead Horse Point State Park, you would have thought we were at the beach....So many travelers had come to watch the sunset on the sandstone cliffs overlooking Dead Horse Point. It was beautiful and so peaceful.
According to legend, the point was once used to corral wild mustangs roaming the mesa. Cowboys rounded up these horses, herded them onto the point where they chose the horses they wanted and for reasons unknown, left the other horses corralled with branches and brush, on the waterless point where they died of thirst within view of the Colorado River, 2,ooo feet below. Utah County Health Department is listing a warning advisory in Provo Bay, shown on this map in red, due to the presence of an algae bloom. Only Provo Bay is affected.
