This morning, VFV leadership participated in the official dedication of the Veteran’s Resource Center by Governor Haslam, highlighting a week of amazing festivities for Veterans. Coupling with efforts just like this by the University, VFV strives to grow our involvement in the community and ability to provide legal assistance to such a worthy cause.
Thank you to the University of Tennessee and Governor Haslam for taking these important steps to promote and assist student Veterans! @utknoxville @governorbillhaslam

Meet Megan Bryson, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies!
Bryson’s research primarily focuses on East Asian Religions and her current research is on a specific region of China that touches the borders of Myanmar, India, and Vietnam. This region has developed a distinct form of Buddhism due to its proximity to such cultural diversity that is not limited by political boundaries.
Bryson also studies the commodification of Zen in America and how it has become transformed into an aesthetic. Zen has been kitsch-ified in America with everything from “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” to “Zen and the Art of Cooking Beer-Can Chicken”. If you’re interested in Religious Studies but you’re not sure if it’s right for you, Bryson is teaching an Intro to Religions of Asia class (REST 280) this Spring that fulfills the Gen Ed Arts & Humanities requirement. Bryson says, “Regardless of your own religious commitment, you have a place in our classes. No specific religious commitment required.” #religiousstudies#humanities#utk#govols#gibigorange#gbo#vfl#volshelpvols
Deficit deadlifts - 80% (485) x 8 x 1, one of the most important in building strength is being able to have an honest conversation with yourself about where your weaknesses truly are and taking action to fix it
Rule of thumb: if you hate doing it then you probably need to do it more. I HATE deficit deadlifts but I know I'm weakest off the floor bc I don't get enough leg drive into the bar from the start and I know deficits will help fix that
Going after your weaknesses HARD is the fastest way to build strength. PERIOD. Find where you're weak in your lift and find what movements fix that. Go all in on those movements. See PRs
