ART IS LOVE ❤️ This holiday season, consider gifting your loved ones a piece of custom animal artwork.
Everyone has a favorite photo of their animal. You know the one. Where their already irresistible face is smunched into a hilarious expression of mischief or cocked to the side in curiosity. The one that compels you to whip out your phone in the middle of a crowded sidewalk and show it to strangers. We use that photo as inspiration for a custom piece of artwork – a memory captured on Birchwood forever. .
Each portrait takes 2-4 weeks to complete. 50% of proceeds go to Synergy; a rescue, rehab & sanctuary for special needs animals & friends... 🦋🦋🦄
Please share with your Nugget Loving Family🌺✌🏾 -
For custom portrait inquiries, please email : email@example.com

Egg Mother - Day 78
"Egg Mother" is my performance art piece symbolizing the amount of abuse and suffering experienced by female chickens in the egg industry.
For the entire lifespan of a chicken, I will take time to create an egg out of clay every day, no matter the day, to mourn the female chickens who are unnaturally forced to lay one egg a day, putting a tremendous amount of strain on their bodies.
For a female chicken, the average number of eggs laid (naturally) would be about 15 per year, and she would live to be about 8-10 years old. In the egg industry, female chickens are forced to lay an egg every day until their bodies give out from the exhaustion at 1-2 years, when they are then taken to slaughter for meat. By taking away the egg from underneath a chicken, she instinctually must produce another one, which becomes very hard on her body.
The conditions egg-laying chickens live in are some of the most cruel in animal agriculture. The typical cage is so small that they don't have room to stand up, turn around, or groom themselves, which becomes very frustrating as they go against their natural instincts. The cages are stacked on top of each other so that the chickens relieve themselves onto each other, while still being unable to clean themselves. The eggs fall through the bars of the cages to be collected. Free-range and cage-free are no better because they are grouped in larger spaces with more chickens, where they must climb on top of each other with no real room to move.
Some people believe that buying local or organic eggs from smaller farms or backyard chickens is humane, however the chicken is still being forced to produce an extreme and unnatural amount of eggs, thus putting unnecessary abuse on her body and shortening her life.
Although this piece focuses on the life of female chickens, it should be noted that a frequent practice in the industry is the grinding up of male chicks alive in machines similar to wood chippers after they hatch. Because they don't lay eggs, it doesn't make much economical sense to keep the male chicks alive.
Eggs (as well as all animal products) are unnecessary, unhealthy, replaceable, and never humane.
Elephants are compassionate towards the weak and altruistic towards other species. Elephants are amongst the worlds most intelligent and and emotional creatures. They’ve been known to save other animals that are in need of help. Elephants remember and mourn loved ones even many years after death. When an elephant walks passed a place where a loved one died he or she will stop and take a silent pause that can last several minutes. Elephants are one of the only non-human animals that can suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These majestic animals are so beautiful caring courageous wise loving and kind. They deserve love deeper than the ocean itself. There is no source more powerful than love please love all life.
All the beautiful humans tagged here please stop by my ✨Art by Lindsay✨ tent tomorrow at @circlevfest if you have a moment. I'd love to gift you these original watercolor pieces as a little token of my gratitude for your incredible voice for animals. 💛 Thank you for using your platforms to inspire us all to live more kindly. I am looking forward to a wonderful day surrounded by beautiful souls. 💗
While I personally haven't eaten meat in over 20 years, this year will be my family's first cruelty-free #Thanksgiving meal. I could not be more grateful! 🖤What started as a commitment to leave meat off of the menu this Thanksgiving (which already delighted me) has now become a beautifully planned fully vegan feast!! I am SO excited and so lucky that my family is willing and even enthusiastic about this change in tradition. I cannot think of a better way to celebrate all that we are grateful for than by starting new traditions that extend compassion to all living creatures. Stay tuned for an abundance of photographs of this cruelty-free holiday culinary adventure! I. Can't. Wait. 🦃🍁🍂🌱💛🍽
