Sometimes life seems to have a theme, a lesson that keeps presenting itself over and over to you. By the power of God and the grace of my husband, I am learning to self reflect before I jump to blame. I am learning that to receive compassion, compassion and understanding must first be given💫. I sat down for a moment to read this evening and what I read what awfully enlightening: "try this for a couple of weeks and see how it changes your reality: whatever you think people are withholding from you- praise, appreciation, assistance, loving care, and so on- give it to them. You cannot receive what you do no give. Outflow determines inflow. Whatever you think the world is withholding from you, you already have, but unless you allow it to flow out, you won't even know that you have it. This includes abundance. This law is expressed by Jesus: 'give and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.' That source of all abundance is not outside of you, it is part of who you are. See the fullness of life all around you, the warmth of the sun on your skin, the display of magnificent flowers outside a florist's shop, biting into a succulent fruit, or getting soaked by an abundance of water falling from the sky. The fullness of life is there at every step. The acknowledgment of that abundance all around you awakens the abundance within. Then let it flow out. You become a giver. Ask often 'what can I give here? How can I be if service to this person?'. You don't need to own anything to feel abundant. Both abundance and scarcity are inner states that manifest as your reality. Jesus puts it like this: 'for to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.'"
Did you race over the weekend? Body still running off adrenaline? Or maybe you are new to running, just starting out and feeling frustrated that you cannot run the distances you want to run right from the get go. Don't hurry time. You will only be rewarded with injuries, a sign that your body is unable to handle the load and it will more than likely start to breakdown. Be consistent. Be patient. Just be #veganathlete#training#donthurrytime#plantedrunner#plantedlifeau
There was a time when I thought eating too much fruit would make me fat. I literally thought the calorie and sugar content would make me explode. I cared so much about it that I would only eat fruit *some* mornings post cardio🙄 Now I eat fruit, veg and carbs all day; bowls, smoothies, everythinggg. I eat intuitively, don't count calories and don't stress and it feels goooood. Don't deprive yourself of the natural vitamins, antioxidants and health benefits of fruit. Go eat a whole watermelon... Or a bunch of naners👅

I think I was explaining to Richard just how close I was beating him. We did ribbon creek trail today. 10k up 10k down and it's all runable. The second half of our run turned into an absolute hammer fest where I attempted to drop @richardreidracing twice and came close once but Richard let me know who was still boss. ⛰
These are the days that make life worth living. Such a beautiful weekend spent with @neeks_10 and our wonderful friends. #vegan#veganathlete#canadianrockies#trailrunning#mountainrunning
Anybody else doing a juice cleanse? 🌱💚 this is my day 4 and I feel pretty amazing! I created my own cleanse and I'm allowing 2 smoothies, 1 full juice, 1 fruit snack and 1 salad for dinner. So yeah it's not a 100% all juice, but it's ALL Fruits and vegetables. Low Fat Raw Vegan is definitely the way to go!! If you're doing a cleanse, comment below, let's connect!! 🌱🌱
This weekend I did my first official 5k and won first place in my age group. Because I was the only person in my age group. But I was still in the leading pack lmao ANYWAY it was a fundraiser for the animal shelter we got my late dog from, and lots of dogs showed up to run too. So many warm and fuzzy feelings. I hope my dead dog is proud of me🙏🏼🐶🥇
Late lunch today, had a crazy busy morning in the garden then running errands with the little dude and still managed to get my morning workout in! We don't eat out very often but when I was running errands I grabbed some #vegan sushi 🍣(cucumber, yam, avocado), and an iced chai tea with almond milk, no cane syrup please 😝it is just pure sugar and those empty calories add up super fast. Instead I always substitute for sugar free vanilla instead! And really almond milk is just the bees knees! 🌰🐝
On Saturday, we wished #SHVP teammate Jason Mintz luck as he set off to take on the Western States Endurance Run. He can now add Western States finisher to his resume! He came in 122/248 and his time was 27 hours and 14 mins. Teammate Laura Kline was a kickass pacer from mile 62 to the end! Congratulations, Jason, on this incredible accomplishment! #strongheartsveganpower#tothefront#westernstates100
Happy birthday to my boo @usagi_mar! She is undoubtedly the best French #vegan warrior princess wife anyone could ask for and an amazing person who spent half her "special" day teaching @brother_ricardo's students how to make vegan cupcakes with a recipe from the Great Depression era. She is responsible for introducing veganism to me- the rest is history. She's officially been vegan for 7 years and she's still alive & kicking with no protein deficiency in sight- I'm so proud of her. We have stayed closer than almond butter and jam on slightly toasted sourdough-yes, that is close, while she bakes, fights, bashes stereotypes and looks good doing it. I remain proud of you and am grateful for this thang we've had going on for 12 years. I love you Mah ree ahn 💕
Voy a ti. Quien me acompaña?
Felicidad no es sinonimo de alegria, felicidad no es perfeccion; felicidad es decirte hoy que siento que estoy en el momento y lugar correcto.
i gave in to the hype and bought a pair of zoom flys a few days ago. took 'em out for an easy run the other day and a tempo run today. 🏃🏽♀️ kinda tricky for slower runs (for a new user, at least) but for faster/uptempo speeds the ride is super smooth. they feel weird at first and will definitely take some getting used to, but i think i could really come to love this shoe 😊
#MCM with #veganathlete showing us how he is able to #liveyourfullesteveryday ! Check out his page for great photos and many pearls of wisdom!
What has a bag of nacho chips and cocaine in common? A number of scientific studies, many of which were conducted within the past year, have found that junk food addiction is essentially the same as cocaine addiction, at least as far as the brain is concerned.
Bloomberg Businessweek reports on a plethora of recent data that identifies junk food addiction as being just as serious as drug addiction. High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), monosodium glutamate (MSG), hydrogenated oils, refined salt, and various other chemical preservatives found in processed junk food does the same thing to a person's brain as cocaine does.
A 2010 study conducted by scientists at Scripps Research Institute in Florida found that rats given free access to Hormel Foods Corp. bacon, Sara Lee Corp. pound cake, The Cheesecake Factory Inc. cheesecake, and Pillsbury Co. Creamy Supreme cake frosting, experienced significant changes in brain activity and function. The same changes occur in the brains of drug addicts. Another study conducted by researchers at both the University of Texas in Austin and the Oregon Research Institute found that prolonged consumption of junk foods results in reduced activity in the striatum, a section of the forebrain that registers reward. In other words, the more you eat, the more you get addicted to it. just like with illicit drugs, those addicted to junk food require ever-increasing amounts of it to get the same high.
Since processed foods are loaded with synthetic chemical additives, they are technically drugs themselves. So it is no wonder that millions of people around the world are addicted to them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------followme and turn on your postnotification. @jan_chosen is fast becoming one of our favorite rising IG stars! Jan is strong, beautiful, determined, and inspirational af! 😍💪🌱 Follow her IG and you'll get a glimpse into the hard work it takes to progress in calisthenics training. And to preview why we love her so much, here's an impactful quote from one of her recent posts: "I've never really fit into just one box. There's the nice girl, the wild kinda edgy side, the nerdy sciency side, the environment vegan compassionate side and the fitness enthusiast side; the spiritual mindful side and the skeptical, analytical part. The people who know me know that I love to laugh often and loud but I also have quite the melancholic side.
There were times in my life where I've felt that there wasn't space for all my sides. That in some situations it was better to not show certain sides of me. I've learned now that I can fully embrace all of me, no matter the people I'm with. Sure, I don't have to go all "max rep talk" when I'm with colleagues at work but I can be comfortable with showing them I am a little nuts for training.
Many people walk around with a kind of shame of who they are and I think what they'll realize once they stop trying to hide that supposed reason of shame, it's actually completely okay. So if you feel you can't show certain people certain sides of you, see if you can attempt just a small step in the direction. And if you are at the other end, be careful before you judge others. Instead look at them through the eyes of compassion and understanding."
