Du coup tu te lèves pour demander à l'employé.e du bar, et sur le chemin, tu vois une pancarte "bar 100% végane". Tu te rasseoie, soulagé.e. C'est pas la première fois que ça t'arrive et tu sais que tu te poseras cette question encore très souvent. Jusqu'à ce que les aliments à base de poa ne soit plus la norme, mais l'exception.

~ Personal post ~ : this past year has been quite the struggle and has been tinged with grief, loss, depression, and serious illness of several people very close to my heart. I’ve been struggling with a serious case of depression lately that makes it difficult for me to even think about getting out of bed some days, let alone opening my own business (even though I am very slowly but surely working on it). It’s hard to watch the people around you struggling as well, to say the least. I made this cake today simply to force myself out of bed and do something productive, and sunflowers are my favorite, so I decided to combine the two. I guess I feel it is representative of all the people I know right now who are struggling to get out of darkness, which feels impossible some days. At least sunflowers are bright 🌻 also fuck cancer, man.

Started with the old and ended with the new today. Standard...but ridiculously tasty sweet potato breakfast. Left over #veganenchiladas for lunch. Just a quick note to say that this is one of those dishes that tastes even better the second day. I now wish I had made two pans of them. A protein packed bowl of lentils and wheat berries (thanks for looking that up @samlowephoto) for dinner and a small piece of #veganchocolatecake ...another series of recipes from @ohsheglows. This all tasted so good and no animal products were used. Food, real food, tastes good. Yes, it requires time to make. But it’s a trillion times better than a frozen meal. P.S. The lentil dish took all of 45 minutes to put together and start eating. I could cut at least 10 minutes off that time next time now that I’m familiar with the recipe.
Sand storm, zombie apocalypse or just dark. Either way if there's any suggestion the world is ending that doesn't allow much time left to consume and now I'm in a panic about what to have first. I planned ahead today and loaded up with these absolutely amazing vegan, yes vegan, chocolate hazelnut squares from @real_patisserie which are truly delicious and a proper treat. I just got home and found this cheeky bottle of port which should pair very well. This 10 year old tawny is made by our friends @quintadelarosa and is one of my very favourites. They are not at all cloying, with clean acidity running through their whole range, especially good with the chocolate ganache actually. It's so complex with dried fruits, honey and almonds, on the nose and taste, and I always get nutty, hazelnut flavours which I love!!! Oh my goodness, the children and I made this vegan chocolate cake for David’s birthday as he’s recently turned to a vegan diet and it was sooo good! Thank you @kateveggiedesserts for an amazing recipe that ended in an absolutely scrumptious cake! All five of us said hands down best chocolate cake we’ve ever eaten!

So good I had to make them twice. And here’s the recipe in case you want to try. Vegan chocolate muffins. Mix 1 cup plant based milk and 1 tsp cider vinegar until it curdles. Meanwhile mix 3/4 cup sugar, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 1/3 cup sunflower oil. The mix your milk mixture into your sugar and oil, beat until a little foamy. Now in another bowl mix your 1 cup flour, 1/3 cup cocoa powder, 3/4 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp baking powder. Now sift your dry into your wet, and mix gently until combined. Don’t overwork it, just bring it together. Spoon into cupcake cases, I get a yield of 12 with these quantities. Bake around190/200c for 15-20 mins until a toothpick comes out clean. Once cooled I just sprinkled some icing sugar in lieu of icing. 😋😃 If you try out the recipe let me know how you get on. 🍫🍰
