Wow, what a huge weekend!
I was Chief Cook and Bottlewasher and Cooking Coach at Lucy Bartholomew’s Running Camp in Kalorama, Victoria this weekend and it was AMAZING!
Though I’m a wee bit tired now, I had such a great time taking what I do here at The Beet Retreat off-site and sharing my passion for creating meaningful change in human health, animals and the planet via beautiful whole plant foods ❤️
@lucy_bartholomew , is the most stunning example of a life fuelled by pure plant foods, only plant based a year or so, like my other amazing athlete bestie, Deanna Blegg @veganisemenow , they both just SHINE from the inside out since going fully plant powered and Im so happy for them, going from strength to strength... and I just love them both with all my heart ❤️ But yes, the Camp was a huge success.. The 9 participants had a blast with runs, core, yoga and Q&A and quality time with Lucy and @majellb (Lucy’s own Running coach and ANOTHER amazing vegan athlete!) and all were stoked with the vibrant food I made for the 12 of us three times a day AND a 4 hour Cooking Class!
Seems it has again made quite an impact on the hearts, minds and tummies of a few of them too ❤️
So I’m chilling back home now, with a King Parrot perched on my sitting hammock outside my bedroom watching me, watching him as we do and I’m happy, content, grateful, and a teeny bit proud of myself... that was my first outside gig and I think it will become a bit of a “thing” with people and places that resonate.
It’s a lovely thing that.... sharing this plant based life.
Just positive on every life... and so, so, so special to be able to offer something meaningful and good in the world. As simple as it is in the scheme of things... it feels good.
Thank you again for all who have stepped into this beautiful way of being... and all who are on their way.

There was a Greek theme going in today’s Signature dishes. A fabulous moussaka with bechamel sauce and a spinach and tofu ricotta pie. Both delish. This was today day three of the vegan foundation cooking class. What fabulous food everyone cooked.

Cooking with kids. .
I’ve been letting #babylemmyjackson help me with cooking ever since he could hold a tool. I trust him to cut veggies, knead the dough, squeeze the nut bag to make mylks, pick the herbs from the ‘herb garden’ ( okay, it’s just a pot with few basil leaves growing in it 😬) And he loves it so much. Getting messy and feeling proud that he’s part of making something. .
I’m so lucky that he is a little foodie, he loves eating, he loves the most weirdest things like natto (fermented soy bean), he would cry for kale chip (whaaat), he would pretty much always choose fruit salad over cake and he can tell the difference between mango and papaya, ( some adults can’t) and would ask for fresh mint tea or a beetroot latte 🤣 .
I try to introduce him to different foods whenever I can. He’s favourite foods are fruits, sushi and dumplings.
Kids are the future and I’m all for educating them early about where the food comes from and what you can do with fruit and veggies. .

We found all the good things in Lismore yesterday while waiting for my van to be serviced. A spelt donut which also happened to be VEGAN. Took me back to my school hols as a kid. Yay for donut time. Thanks @goannabakery
Yesterday, near Geelong, a truck load of Broilers (8-10 week old baby chickens viewed by all who eat them as “Meat”) rolled over on a freeway enroute to a slaughterhouse, injuring and killing thousands of them.
As animal rights advocates and activists tried to step in to save some they were stopped by police. A handful of committed and courageous individuals raced in and gathered one into their arms to race to the Vet instead of the slaughterhouse where all the others ended up.
Police tried to wrest some from their arms, for these babies, worth maybe a $1 at tops to the producer, are not regarded as Ruby and Happy are, as all sentient beings are, as #individuals , but merely property. A commodity. No rights. Nobodies.
We who see #animals as who they are not what they are had grieving hearts yet again yesterday.
Every second of the day, this mass genocide, unprecedented in history, continues...and I look to Ruby and Happy, the lucky ones, and try to console myself with the small comfort that there is an unstoppable shift in consciousness amongst populations around the world and we are beginning to awaken others to the reality of Animal Agriculture in all its cleverly marketed facets.
We need understand no further than the fact an individual is an individual no matter if they live alone, with their best friend, or in a shed of 100’s of thousands.
They experience pain, pleasure, stress, fear, and seek comfort and safety like all of us do...
In the most important ways we are all one.
We, as beings who now live in a world where it absolutely possible to thrive without harming others, are primed for the greatest step in our evolutionary history. We can live in alignment with our innate but long suppressed empathy and compassion for others.

First of the new “express” type #cookingclasses last night!
These are 2 hours (instead of the usual 4hr) and are a smaller class (6 generally instead of 8)
For $60pp we create 3-4 dishes together.. and eat em! 😂😂🤣🤣 It’s like going out for dinner but actually getting to know how to make it so you can do it at home again and again and again!!!! Last night we enjoyed the ever versatile #oilfreevegan aioli, a true summer favourite #rawpadthai , a big mixed #salad with a simple dressing and the perennial favourite Roasted Walnut and Caramel #nicecream ❤️ Despite running half the time as the other classes I was still able to share lots of valuable nutritional info, tips and techniques and it is also really about giving participants options to replace the less nutritious processed vegan or non vegan food and the down right unhealthy #dairy#eggs and #meat ! All so hard on our bodies organs and systems, all so harmful to the other beautiful beings on our planet and all taking an unprecedented toll on the environment.
The time to return to predominantly or fully #plantbased eating has come. It’s empowering for all and wonderful to be able to help others on their way in this most practical way, teaching #cooking and how to prepare #fresh#healthy#foodthatheals ❤️💪🙏
