I believe in treat meals, not cheat meals. I was asked today what the difference is between the two. The difference isn't huge, but it's important: mindset. A cheat meal is often a free for all, a "naughty" action, and a coveted opportunity to "break the rules" of strict and restrictive dietary control. It suggests that food is BAD!

A treat meal is a break. It's a single meal where anxiety over food has no place, where time with loved ones can be enjoyed fully, and where pleasure and logic combine to let loose without blowing diet progress. It's moderate, smart, and FUN.

I chose to have a treat meal for my last meal of the week because I hit my macros perfectly this week, I achieved a new low weigh-in this morning, and I wanted to enjoy a meal with my partner without pulling up MyFitnessPal. I had a veggie burger and fries, a couple of drinks, and a couple of Oreos for dessert. I didn't make myself sick, I didn't eat food I didn't want or enjoy, and I didn't "cheat" just for the sake of it. I celebrated victories, enjoyed my meal and my company, and did so without a shred of guilt or regret. THAT is what a treat meal is all about.

This is the result of what was in my fridge and my first time using #garlicscapes 💚 If you're not familiar with garlic scapes, they are a spring veggie that are basically the shoot of the garlic plant; they're packed with garlicky flavor and easy to work with and pictured here as part of a bright green pesto. In this lovely sandwich is radish, cucumber, @fieldroast slices, and the pesto of course. Tonight was perfect for this pose. My husband and I looked up at the night sky and got to see a comet. Which got me thinking about the stars and how bright they shine. Nothing ever drains them until death and going super nova. We should be like stars and shine bright every day of our living lives. The only thing thay should out us oyt is death but then after that depending on you beliefs we may still twinkle daily! . Chocolate Covered Banana
3 tbsp coconut oil
1/3 cup @truvibeorganics cacao powder
2 tbsp raw honey/agave
1 Banana
Toppings of choice: Nuts/seeds, @truvibeorganics cacao nibs and/or goji berries
Bring stove to a low heat and use a small pot to melt the coconut oil. Stir until the coconut oil becomes liquid. Use a separate bowl to mix the melted coconut oil, cacao powder, and raw honey/agave until the constancy is smooth. Carefully dip the banana into the chocolate and roll in toppings of choice. Place the dipped banana onto parchment paper and refrigerate for one hour. Enjoy!

Yield: 16 squares
1 3/4 cup unsweetened coconut shreds
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
1/2 cup cashews, chopped
2 tbsp @atacorawellness baobab powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 cup pure maple syrup
3/4 cup sunflower seed butter, divided
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
1/4 cup @atacorawellness raw African honey/agave
1/2 cup cacao/cocoa powder
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
Method:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread coconut shreds evenly on the baking sheet. Toast for about 7 minutes, until the shreds are golden brown. Remove from oven, turn oven off, and let cool.
Line an 8X8 pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
In a large bowl, stir together maple syrup and 1/4 cup of sunflower seed butter until smooth. Stir in the coconut, walnuts, cashews, baobab and salt. Separate out about 2/3 of this mixture and press into the bottom of the pan. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, stir together the remaining sunflower seed butter, vanilla, honey, cacao powder and melted coconut oil. Stir until smooth. Pour evenly over the crust in the pan.
Sprinkle the remaining crust mixture overtop. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or freeze until firm enough to cut into squares. Store covered in the fridge or freezer (you can eat them right out of the freezer, if desired).

After spending 24 hours with a group of mountain biking- beer- loving- mud bogging guys (@the_great_canadian_sagle) at The 24 Hours of Summer Solstice, I couldn't help but admire their determination.  They have proven their physical and mental abilities to ride through the midday heat, torrential downpours and through pitch black trails during the wee hours of the night. .
What did they do off trail? They focused on food and recovery to prep them for the next trail ride.  An abundance of fruit, water, electrolytes, granola, nuts, seeds, coffee and beer!

Ingredients: 1 yellow onion, 6 cloves garlic, chopped ginger, 3 jalapeños, a bunch of cilantro, turmeric, salt, paprika, cumin, coriander, 4 large tomato, 4 medium red potato, 6 medium zucchini's

Instructions: cut all the vegetables and toss all the ingredients in a pot and cook on medium-low until the potatoes become tender. Stir occasionally. This recipe serves 6....or 1 if you are like me and love to eat. 🌱❤️💕😂 bon appetite! .

I love seeing healthy people doing this practice & devotion, putting in the hard work, pushing past discomfort, sweating, even grunting into a more enlightened self. That is a stationary criss cross and I am winning so hard at it. This takes a lot of coordination and speed in movement. I was not even able to cross my legs for an exercise like this before. .
My quads are really weak because I didn't use them as much since my neurological injury, but I see my progress!!! I see that even though I look a fool here I am proud! My legs are all jiggly- that is me, that is real me and they ARE getting stronger, I'm getting more coordinated, my legs are building muscle, and I am so happy to be where I am! Because I know I couldn't do this 6 months ago, and I know in 6 months I will be amazed at what I can do. #faith #healing #youcandothis
