Mushrooms always find their way on my grocery list when planning my camping meals. They're low in fat and calories while providing protein, carbs, and fiber; they can easily be a staple to my dish (like the tacos I made) or thrown in as an ingredient to spice up a meal. I love mushrooms but am annoyed by the fact that they must always be in my first meal of a trip. I've been testing out different ways of storing mushrooms for when I go camping so I can be sure to enjoy them before they get slimy or moldy. The best thing I've found? Paper bag inside of zip lock bag. Really ready to just start dehydrating them for longer trips though. How do you store your mushrooms? 🤔🍄 #myvidaverde#foodforthought
Mount Sonder Day 2 of my Larapinta Trail hike at my absolute favourite hiking time - solo during the pre and post dawn hours. Everything feels like a secret that you are sneaking through in the morning. It's all so quiet and sleepy and shy. It all changes so fast as the light moves across the earth- the colours change, the smells, the noise.
Who's excited to hike the Nootka Trail tomorrow? @veganhikerlara and our awesome team of guests from Vancouver and Bermuda are ready to launch out of Gold River with @airnootka in the am!
Today we climbed Monte Grona (1736m) and Bregagnino (1902m). We accidentally took a very scary path up Monte Grona - the sintiero panoramico (E-E - for experienced hikers), instead of the sintiero normale - we suffered a lot of terrifying vertigo, scrambling up a rockface with sheer drops below and were so pleased at the top to discover there was a gentle way down onto the ridge! The views were stunning although we didn't get pics of the scariest bits. 😅💪
