Smoothie bowl time!! I've been adding more veggies to my smoothie bowls, instead of just fruit so I thought I would share it with you!!
Today's smoothie: 1 frozen banana, 1 cup of frozen romaine lettuce, 1/2 cup of frozen peas, about 1/2 cup of frozen broccoli, 1 heaping handful of frozen fruit blend, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds, 1 tablespoon of ground flax seed (make sure you grind yours down!! Our bodies can't absorb the nutrients from them in their whole seed form), 1/2 cup of almond milk, 1/2 cup of water.
LOTS of goodies. Starting my day of with fruit AND veggies makes me feel so much better than just fruit 😍 I topped this bowl with frozen berries, cashews, chocolate quinoa crispies (a few posts back), unsweetened coconut flakes, and Kashi's Go Lean original cereal! (Absolutely love this cereal on smoothie bowls. It adds a touch of sweetness and it gives you the crunch😍)

Mine has mostly 🍌, a cup of sweet dark 🍒 and about 2 tbl spoons of ground flax seed with water to fill. Next to the smoothie is chlorophyll water (1 tsp : 16 oz of water). I am a big promoter of detoxing the inside and outside of the body. Chlorophyll (green pigment in plants) is a natural deodorizer and functions as a free radical neutralizer.  And it tastes good, win win! Happy Diwali! No better way to mark the Hindu Festival of Light than with a bowl of carrot halwa. 
Traditionally a rich dessert, a  few tweaks  to the recipe transform carrot halwa into  a nutritious breakfast packed with veg and protein. 
Add to a saucepan a couple of grated carrots, enough milk (I used coconut milk) to cover the carrots, a tsp of cardamom powder, sweetener to taste and a tsp of rose water (optional). For a more satisfying breakfast substitute some of the grated carrot with oats.  Bring to the boil and simmer until most of the milk has evaporated. Stir occasionally. For a protein boost add a scoop of unflavoured protein powder.

Traditionally  pistachios , cashews and dried fruit are sprinkled on top of the halwa before it is served. I opted for chopped mixed nuts, seeds, coconut flakes and a dollop of tahini.

ingredients:
- one egg ($2.69 for a dozen at the local grocery)
- homemade kimchi (made with my dad, with cheap ingredients from the korean specialty store and big y respectively - costs about $8 or so to make a huge batch that lasts at least two weeks even if yr like me and eat it every single day)
- whole grain sandwich bread ($4.29 for a loaf at the local grocery)
- coconut oil ($4.99 for a jar at the discount food store)
- ground black pepper (leftover from old roommates, free)
- kosher salt ($1.99 for a container at the convenience store)

How I became more of a morning person:
1. Get up, lift heavy shit / do yoga
2. Eat my favourite foods at breakfast instead of smoothie and sadness. 
Hot, savoury meal is 🔥💯👌 for my mood and wellbeing. (Unless I'm fasting breakfast, which I also quite like when I'm having a restful day. Sometimes with a gelatine or cream coffee). Today's hot breakky smash is spinach, avo, fetta, shiitake and oyster mushrooms, Dutch cream potato. YES

{Wednesday’s are for overnight oats in a jar} 🙌 {These are seriously super easy to make and perfect for a morning when you need to grab breakfast on the go!} 👩‍💻 {In the jar: @bobsredmill 1/2 cup raw rolled GF Oats, 3/4 cup @califiafarms almond milk, 1 tbsp @chiaseedku chia seeds, 2 tsp @wholefoods organic cinnamon, a handful of organic raspberries and an organic banana sliced! Prep the night before and enjoy the following day ☺️ Adding @vitalproteins (if you’d like)! The natural sweetness of the fruit is sufficient for me but if you need a little extra touch @wild_friends nut butter would do the trick 😋} •
