It’s soup day in the kitchen with 60 cheery cooks. “Soup calms you down,” we were told and we couldn’t agree more. Some young chefs ate 3 bowls of soup. Should this make them extra calm or energized for the afternoon? #kidscancook#veggiesoup
It's finally Thanksgiving break and I'm visiting my sister in Texas! Turns out everyone here is sick today so I made this quick 20 minute veggie soup. Chop one medium onion and mince 3 cloves of garlic. I then prepared some veggies (potatoes, peas, corn, and carrots). I warmed 1.5tbsp of oil and added the garlic and onion. I let this saute for a minute before adding in the rest of the veggies. I then seasoned the veggies with parsley, oregano, red chili flakes, and basil. I let the veggies develop some color (5 minutes) and then added a can of plain tomato sauce along with 3-4ish cups of veggie stock. I next added 1/4 tsp of turmeric, 1/2 tsp of red chili powder, 1/2tsp of cumin/coriander, and 1 tbsp of ranch seasoning. I let the mixture boil until all the veggies were combed through and it was done!
You might think that after two days of fasting on a liquid diet that when you are ready to go back to your regular diet you'd be famished and ready to stuff your face with all the food that was taunting you in days prior. However Nathan and I are finding that not to be the case.
Cravings happen of course but what's interesting is noticing whether you truly are hungry and want to eat a certain foods or not. And if you allow yourself that food will your experience be on the level that your craving is trying to convince you of? I did indulge a craving for mozzarella cheese sticks and a chocolate sundae after one of our previous one day fasts and when I was done I thought " Yes that was tasty junk food, but also that was so unnecessary." I could tell I had just gotten an idea in my head the night before but I could have rather easily dissolved it. I'm glad I didn't though because I learned something about myself that has been useful with each fast.
Truly each fast and each day of the fast has been a unique experience. Yesterday (day 2 of fast #5 ) was surprisingly the easiest and most energetic yet. And this morning I could have cared less about running to the kitchen to make food. I had my warm lemon water and thought about my usual breakfasts of oatmeal, veggie sausages, tacos, English muffins, avocado toast, coffee, etc. But I was rather enjoying liquids so that all seemed like too much too soon. I honestly also wasn't hungry and only made this soup because I know we'll be having Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and I need to get my digestion amped up for that.
I decided to skip breakfast all together though and have a late lunch veggie soup. I love this feeling of my senses being recalibrated and consciously choosing to tune in to what my body actually wants and needs.
We've been doing little baby fasts so there's so much more to discover and I'm delighted to feel an ease with doing so because abstaining from food and consuming green juices (which can be so gross to some of us 🙋🏾) can be kind of scary.
I navigated my way through this delicious soup intuitively with some extra intention. Ingredients below in comments. 👇🏾

Shout Out to my boy Mike B, @giftedlift, he's totally embraced the #21Days to habit #Challenge and been very diligent in checking in with his workouts and meals daily and said that it doesn't even feel like a challenge anymore. That means he's closer to converting this into a lifestyle.
It's a good feeling when you know that you've inspired and motivated others to do something positive.
He also said that he's down and committed to the full #LemonadeMasterCleanse & #Detox that we're doing at the beginning of the year.
He came by the #Lakehouse the other day to pickup some #VeggieSoup and exchanged some #GoodVibes with me...
Keep up the good work, my brother. I see you!!
On day #Day15 I had my #VeggieSoup and swam about 30 laps, got some steam sauna, and jacuzzi action in. Yesterday #Day16 was #FruitDay for me and I went to the #Chiropractor to get straightened out and ice my knee that I hit pretty hard on the table yesterday; & Today #Day17 of our #21Days to habit #Challenge , I'm scheduled for an hour #Massage and I may try to slide a light swim in...
#AccountabilityPartners ... How are y'all making out?

We’re falling for FALL with this cozy bowl of soup from @dirndl_kitchen! It can be hard to be stuck inside when the weather gets chilly ❄️, so be sure to take a breather and gets some fresh air! 💨 #gethealthie .
I try to make a bone broth veggie soup every day.
It doesn't always happen. No ones perfect.
See it's important to me not just because of the age defying benefits of this concoction, but it's immune boosting power.
I've been in favor of homemade bone broth since my now 6 year old had a cold at 2 and the pediatrician started spouting out all the remedies.
I decently remember the doctor telling me to give my sweet little boy chicken soup WITH the bone. He made a point to tell me broth without the bone is useless.
So when I make anything requiring broth, I try to use home made bone broth.
NOW I try consume it daily with my veggie soup and as a bone broth protein powder shake.
See... after months of unexplained struggles in my body, I tested positive for an autoimmune disease and this is just one small but vital part of taking back control of my health.
Nothing could be as good as a hot veggiesoup after an awful long day. A cup of tea and a candle complete my comfort ❤
Nach einem langen kalten Tag wärmt nichts so sehr wie eine heiße Gemüsesuppe. Mit Tee und Kerze ein wahrer Genuss ❤
