Fred Press vintage Midcentury teak signed 10 inch diagonal cheese plate with knife magnet: This signed 10 inch diagonal cheese plate measures 10 inches diagonally. It has a magnet embedded in it on side where a knife can be placed. The design of gold rectangles with a central gold dot and blue vertical geometric columns was silk-screened over the white enamel background. The glass is signed Fred Press in gold between the gold. The back of the teak trivet is stamped "Sener" Wood. It also says "Pat. Pend. Hand carved Hardwood Japan"
Here is some information I found online about Fred Press.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Fred Press founded the sculpture collection Contemporary Arts, Inc. and taught at the Vesper George School of Art. He is perhaps one of the most versatile and prolific of America’s present day artist designers. Hundreds of his original sculptures have been reproduced and collected. His paintings, which have been exhibited in one man shows as well as group shows and competitions, have brought critical acceptance as well as prizes and have been acquired by such notable institutions as the Worcester Art Museum. His product designs, which have been distinguished by New York’s Museum of Modern Art with a good design award, have been executed in a multitude of media and distributed widely into virtually every corner of America. Fred Press is most known for his sculpture, but his unique glassware was popular during the 1940s, 50s, 60s and continues to be popular today!
So, which classic American or craft cocktail or craft beer would you make and serve to complement the great Vermont cheese you would serve on this Midcentury Modern American blast from the past?

Shortbread fingers! Not the prettiest treat, but definitely one of the most delicious (especially when you use most of a @vermontcreamery butter sausage). These didn't make it past one day thanks to helpful colleagues and roommate.

Bonne Bouche | Moby Dick
The Bonne Bouche is one of the runniest cheese I have ever come across. Had I not heeded the warning given to me by one of the mongers in my local cheese shop, I probably would have cracked this cheese open in the quaint little wooden basket it had originally come in... and everything would have gone everywhere. (Is it possible that I bought straight goat's milk instead of goat's milk cheese?)
Visually speaking, the mottled and fuzzy grey rind lends the Bonne Bouche an ominous air. Coupled with the runny insides, I immediately think of tumultuous seas. And then, naturally, to Moby Dick.
Much like the classic tale, the Bonne Bouche is a complex ride. Like the white whale, the precise taste of this deep, white, ultra-creamy cheese is elusive and difficult to capture. I taste something citric in one bite, something buttery in the next, then something fungal, then pepper. Despite knowing that adults shouldn't eat cheese for dinner, I press on in the hopes of categorizing the Bonne Bouche, so feel free to call me Ishmael until I put my finger on it. -

On weekend mornings @casaketo - we take requests from Kyle 😊 we rarely eat breakfast together during the week. So my husband also eats keto (? Never quite know how to phrase this; he's a part time ketotarian) so bacon and scrambled eggs are his usual request. I make the bacon on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. I pop it in the oven at 400 degrees - I don't bother preheating. I took these out like 35 minutes later. Depends on how crispy you like it. I like this method because I hate oil splatter on my stove and the bacon is super crispy. I've tried tons of different bacon: my top two faves are @applegate sunday bacon and @niman_ranch bacon uncured applewood smoked bacon. Both are nitrate free and no sugar added. The scrambled eggs are topped with a dollop of @vermontcreamery creme fraiche and tbsp of cheddar cheese. What's in that lil bowl ?!! It's a lil compare & contrast: in the baby bowl is 1 serving of Granola (it's @paleonola) for ¼ cup it's 5g of carbs - which is great but such a mini serving ! I do really like it and no alternative sweetener - just honey. But if you have 20g of carbs to work with for the whole day - you can decide where they go however you see fit. I don't buy that granola usually because I love it and ¼ cup isn't enough but it lured me one last time 🙄 The 2 scrambled eggs, creme fraiche, cheddar cheese with 3 slices of bacon is 1g carb total !
Obsessed with warm kale salad. Made some tweaks with the dressing by using maple syrup, @wildtreeofficial smoky bacon grapeseed oil, and dijon in the caramelized onion vinaigrette. Topped with red onions, cucumbers, pecans and cranberry orange cinnamon goat cheese from @vermontcreamery #freshncleaneats#snowdaysalad#vermontcreamery#wildtreeofficial
