Yesterday was my birthday and I received the most amazing package for #themakersclubswap from @browngirl_og. She made so many beautiful and thoughtful things (mugrug, hexie coasters, hot pads, the sewing machine cover! I die!) and the extras are beyond perfect (total vintage heaven). It made my day feel so special and I am still admiring it all. Thank you so much Shannon! 💗💗💗
These three beauties belonged to my great grandmother and were used for ironing from the late 1800s into the 1940s. My mother remembers that one flat iron always sat warming on the kitchen's wood-burning stove, at the ready for garment pressing. Another served as a doorstop in the summertime. Today, they make great fabric weights, and they remind us of the family's hardworking women. The number on top of each iron refers to the size. Just fixed my laundry bag by adding a few snaps using a vintage kit. They set in beautifully and work great! Way better than the new ones. If you find a box of vintage "dot snappers", scoop it up! They don't make em like they used to...
Vintage trim and ricrac bundle. 3 yd+ 16" of approx. 1 1/4 inch width white trim with pink, blue and green floral pattern. Two packages of vintage ric rac - one pink & one blue. $ 20 US #vintageseller#vintagesewing
We ❤️scraps and are always thinking about ways to use them. Pretty scraps + vintage buttons and ricrac = a fun idea for a make it yourself kit. #kits#vintagebuttons
Equestrian inspired. Street worthy.
We are beyond thrilled to launch our first line of equestrian inspired clothing that isn't just for equestrians! Our Cavalry Cuff Thermal is super soft and stretchy, making it perfect to wear while you ride, but stylish enough to leave on and go out to dinner with friends after!
Whether you are attending a clinic, grabbing coffee with friends, or need something cute for the office holiday party; our Cavalry Cuff Thermal answers all of those questions with its stylish and comfortable fit. They make the perfect gift to tuck under the tree for your equestrian and non-equestrian friends alike! Like all of our products, they are designed by us, created by us, and crafted locally right here in the USA!
We are offering two delicious color combos: two-toned charcoal gray with a rich rust velvet cuff, or the perfect jewel-tone peacock green with a decadent mustard velvet cuff. Vintage trim and Cavalry-inspired buttons line each cuff for the finishing touch. They are $85 and will be available Thursday at our Fort Worth Trunk Show and online afterwards. We hope you are as excited about this new venture as we are! #equestrianstyle#equestrianlife#equestrian#equuscouture#couture#dressagechic#dressagelife#equestrianfashion#equestrianaccessories#coutureshirt#vintagenotions#equuscoutureshirt#equestrianessentials#thermal#equestrianinspired#streetworthy#cavalrycuffthermal#madeinusa
My Grandmother was a seamstress in Germany, and when she emigrated to the United States, she opened a dress shop called Fabrics and Fashions. I received a package of some of her vintage notions from the shop. Thanks @this_mimi . #vintagesewing#vintagenotions#vintagebuttons Aenne Hansen

“Longing For Yesterday”
Silver paint-patinated vintage Roe Deer skull, Antique 1800’s beaded black mourning bodice piece & antique beaded textile remnant, vintage & antique notions: buckle, buttons, key & hat pins, tatty old papers, hand scribed postcard and book spine.
To me this is both hauntingly nostalgic & romantically fairytale-like ...the overall deep colouring and moody greynees of the work gives a feel of sadness’s permeating creep that goes deep within our many onion skin layers.
This piece was inspired loosely on a personal family story that has endeared itself to me my whole life. It tells of my mum’s young aunty waiting anxiously for her beloved husband’s return from war ...all to no avail. There is a locket in mum’s old jewellery box that belonged to her aunty, it’s dented with teeth marks from her constant biting as that anxiously waiting young woman ...photographs of her lost heart within. I have handled this precious trinket many times over the years and it never fails to stir me deeply.
Thank you as always for viewing my art ✨🍃 hope Friday is blessed wherever you are.
I know I will take it back when I am buried under alterations next week for a bigger project looming over me, but tonight it feels good just to sew for a show I'm designing myself. Breaking out some vintage buttons for a cute little pinafore. #springawakening#wendla#vintagenotions#costumedesign
