Happy hump day! I've been bitten by the decorating bug recently and am keen to personalise our new house a little more - the dolls house was mine when I was little 💛 I distinctly remember my grandpa fitting carpets for it from offcuts of a new carpet they had just bought. Such a lovely memory to have of him! The carpets are long gone but the house is now a firm fave with my little ones ☺️💛 do you have any toys from your childhood still? #lottieandalbert

Yesterday was a good day, etsy have given all UK sellers 50 free listings and I had my first order to the USA!! I think I've been missing a trick not posting to the USA as I had another order to there shortly after 😁 have a lovely Wednesday x

Yesterday was our first properly misty morning of the autumn, and no matter how sunny it got later there's still that gorgeous September crispness in the air, all of which makes it the perfect time to pick up my jumper in progress again (largely neglected towards the end of the summer because it was just too too hot for a lap full of wool), and happily I've got to the bit with the pattern - now who thinks I can get it finished in time for #yarndale ?
Behind the scenes... here's the back of one of my Color Blocks. Drawing the pencil lines to guide my stitches is actually one of my favorite parts of the process. I think being such a hands-on IRL person in the age of virtual keyboards makes me crave writing utensil time. Even making the grocery list is so fun because I only stock my desk with my favorite pens and pencils ✏️ 🤓 #nerdtime
I'm going to be very honest and tell you that having time with Jesus is hard for me. It's hard for me to use my quiet, alone time for reading my Bible and journal/meditating.
But, I'm forcing myself to do it.
I've been using my Powersheets to make it become a few days a week practice so I can get into the routine. My days where I spend time with Jesus, I usually have a better attitude, I am more at peace and it gives me a break from business, even if I don't want one.
One thing I learned while writing Created for This, was that I need Jesus daily in my business, whether that's in music, Bible reading or prayer and meditation. I can't make my business an idol over Jesus and that's been happening the last few weeks. So I'm reinstating Jesus and making better habits that honor our relationship.
Do you need to give your relationship with Jesus a check up? I love my devotional, Created for This, for business women and Entrusted by Beth Moore is great! If it's time to make Jesus front and center again, or keep him there, check out these books!
P.S. I am wearing pants in the picture.
True confession :: When I had the idea of reversing the colors of @christaquilts #spoolsquilt , I didn't know if it would work. And I didn't know how I would take nice crisp fat quarters and make them look scrappy. But now that all the pieces are laid out and ready to become blocks, I LOVE it! 😍 #pieceandquilthopalong
Yay Magic tricks! I cant help myself, I just find these videos so fun to make, especially with these cute little bowls. Tried some new glazes that I’m excited to continue experiment with! #ilovemaking#osnap
I am such a design junkie!!! This was me being over the top and unexpected. A bunny in a birdcage sitting next to a cake. You would never expect that right. Well, if I put a design together in my head the answer to that question is yes. You give me tour design inspiration and I will run with it. I try to bring you the unexpected detail that will leave your guests wowed. A bunny in a birdcage, all day.
Last week @smbarrera18 asked if I could talk about 'how to get better clarity in photos' for one of our #phototipswithMB posts, so here we go! Thank you for the suggestion, Sarah! Clarity, or lack of clarity, in our photos is often caused by two factors– 1.) the quality and sharpness of our lens, and 2.) our shutter speed. Let's talk about lens quality first, because it's often not the culprit and it's of much lesser importance. However, it is a fact that there is a compromise between depth of field and sharpness, meaning we often sacrifice one at the cost of the other. To make a technical answer simple, because of how the light passes through the aperture blades, images taken at wide apertures (f/1.2, f/1.4, wide open/shallow DOF/blurry background) are less sharp than images taken at stopped down apertures (f/8, f/11). How much of a compromise is made between DOF and sharpness depends on the quality of the lens and the lens itself.... meaning that there are a lot of variances from one to the other - for example, there's a difference in sharpness from prime to zoom lenses, variable aperture to fixed aperture lenses etc. Ok, now let's talk about the most common reason that your photos may lack clarity or sharpness, and that is shutter speed! The Reciprocal Rule basically states that as a general rule if you are hand holding your camera, your shutter speed needs to be at least the reciprocal of the effective focal length of your lens. Meaning that if you're using a fixed 100mm lens, your shutter speed should be no slower than 1/100th of a second. I'd say that this is fairly true in most situations. Of course, it can depend on how steady we are and/or how much coffee we've had 😉, but often blurry photos are caused by a too-slow shutter speed that is either allowing camera shake (we're moving the camera) or not fast enough to freeze the action of our subjects. I'd say a good rule of thumb when you're not on a tripod is to stay at 1/60th-1/125th or faster. Feel free to ask ?'s!

I can't even express my relief and excitement that this project is finally coming together, but I won't really breathe easy until the final product is in my hands! 🌵🌺✋🏾👁🌒 #heartshakepaints

The night before last, Christ was really pressing on my heart to not allow little things to take over 100% of my thoughts throughout the day. I didn't mean to, but my heart wasn't saving Him any space at all. All this was a wake up call to lean on Him at all times and trust he has each of my moments planned out to the exact moment.
He used the example of the beach, because the ocean has low tides where you can play on the beach collect sea shells, build sand castles, dig deep hole forts; yet at the end of the day, or the end of a season for us, the tides rise and all your distractions on the beach disappear beneath the waves.
Your castle gets leveled, your shell collection returns to the sea, and all your hard work turns out to only be a distraction. The beach is a place of both good times and bad times, and the high tides will come for us in seasons. And if we allow those times of rest to be swallowed whole by project after project, you won't see that you were blessed with a time to grow closer to Him due to the distractions. Soak up the views and use that time of quiet to soak up His goodness and praise Him, and who knows maybe even listen for new direction in your seasons of rest.
Most people only come running to Him during times of trouble, instead of during both the low and high tides. Here's to seeking Him in all circumstances. Happy Tuesday xoxo✨☀️🏖
What. A. Day! I had a coaching call with @gablabchi this morning and a strategy session with @tylerjmccall. Both were amazing!!! And can't wait to start on my "homework". My coffee for the next few weeks is from @backoftheyardscoffeeco and it's delicious. I also love their mission.
Today it's making me feel "resilient and robust" to help me process all of the things I have to do for my next biz move. Not spilling the beans just yet 🤐 but soon. 😉
At first, I wrote the caption: "it's going down!", but then I heard Yung Joc saying it... so I'm changing the caption to: Meet me in the shop, it's going down. Anywhere ya meet me guaranteed to go down. Summer sale starts tonight at 9pm PST, ends 23rd midnight PST.
I love these two colors together. Can't get enough berry bows💕My textured berry bowls are in the bisque kiln right now. I'll try a solid color on some of those, but some of them I'll glaze like this.🎉🎉
Real life behind the scenes today. I didn't want to waste a minute of naptime after lunch so this is it :) Recording has to happen at the kitchen table and I'm on a deadline for something awesome.
Now that the baby's awake I'll go clean up.
A new card design Alice and I made for a customer. This is one of my favourites so far ✈️💕 click the link in our bio to shop our collection or send us a wee message if you would like something personalised for a special occasion.
What do you do to escape and make some me time? There are few better than a paint filled palette to me because that means I am creating. I am taking some time out just for me to be selfish and to make something for the sheer joy of it. This is my time to escape and get lost in the process. Let me know what is your favorite part of the creative process?
Thank you all for the little flurry of orders this week! Not vast quantities like some amazing insta businesses but enough to keep me busy in between looking after the children, working with my husband 2 days a week and finishing my interior design course. I had thought about winding Olive & Millie down to focus on other aspects of life, but you guys keep coming back with your orders, so whilst you do, I'll keep making! Thank you 😘
