The Great Orme Tramway is Britain’s only cable-hauled public road tramway and has been delighting visitors from near and far since it opened on July 31st 1902. Have you experienced the breath-taking views from the summit?
Severn Tolls to be scrapped next year.
The Government has finally pledged to axe the tax on entering Wales by motorised road transport across the Severn Estuary (you could always walk or cycle across the Severn Bridge). It was argued for years that it paid for maintenance (see third pic) as well as being payback for construction of the Second Severn Crossing (pic 1). A few hundred jobs will be lost collecting tolls though.
Meanwhile electrification of the mainline on to Swansea won't happen so we'll still get diesel fumes belching out as you go further west from Cardiff even if the stretch from capital to capital runs on electricity. It seems the Tories are more keen on road transport than public transport when it comes to investment... plus ça change.
It's a rainy day in wales Who said I didn't cook. I have had an aga for years. I have one in both homes. Couldn't cook with anything else now. After 20 years it's odd to use anything else My aga certainly keeps us warm. My farmhouse kitchen is so simple. The way it needs to be. #aga#kitchen # simplicity #kitchen#country#wales#cooking#traditional#monmouthshire
