"See your body's nature of impermanence and interbeing. Observe that your body has no permanent entity, and you will no longer identify yourself solely with your body or consider it to be a 'self.' See the body as a formation, empty of any substance that might be called 'self.' See your body as an ocean filled with hidden waves and sea monsters. The ocean might be calm at times, but at other times you can be caught in a storm. Learn to calm the waves and master the monsters without allowing yourself to be carried away or caught by them. With deep looking, the body ceases to be an aggregate of grasping, and you dwell in freedom, no longer caught by fear." Thich Nhat Hanh

I love quirky little coastal towns like Yachats, Oregon. Yesterday we went into the local brewery because it's name finished with “and market”. We were in search of good olive oil for the cauliflower we planned to roast. With a twinkle in her eye, the woman who greeted us explained that they used to have a market, but their restaurant had grown and taken over the space. “You can get olive oil and spices at the video store a couple doors down.” (I’d seen the video store - “Ya Hots! Video” and had assumed they rented porn movies.) “Oh, and pop your head into the firehouse if you want some farm fresh eggs.”
"And if I was honest, you remind me of all the gentle things in life, like tea when it's cold, and big sweaters to sleep in. You remind me of all the safe things in life, like a hand to hold, and a shoulder to lean on. You remind me of all the reasons to take a chance, like when things seem out of reach, and a place seems so far away. You remind me of all the beautiful things in life, like the sky when the sun sets, and the way your face lights up when you smile." -C.P. 🤘🏼💥
These photos and more will be hung in this years @sunshinecoastartcrawl. Stoked not only for the opportunity to show my work, but especially for the chance to collaborate with my INSANELY talented mother, @marleenvermeulen. Stop by venue 7 to see them for yourself 📷👍🏻 (PS - most of my prints are taken locally on the coast!) #SunshineCoastBC
I don’t know what it is, but, I can be fascinated with the very little things that are happening around me! The way the water falls down so smooth and calmly and flows along the rock bed, or the way that the leaves are falling from the sky so majestically. I can just sit somewhere and go on dreaming for a long time. Like they say your head is like a computer. When you’re dreaming you are simply creating a world which you are living. .
I found this little falls along a side road off of the E&N trail which is the longest trail on VI. Took my dogs for a little thanksgiving walk and we stumbled upon this beautiful place! This is why I love the island so much !

"Life is filled with unanswered questions, but it is the courage to seek those answers that continues to give meaning to life. You can spend your life wallowing in despair, wondering why you were the one who was led towards the road strewn with pain, or you can be grateful that you are strong enough to survive it." ~
