// 8 years after seeing the movie, I just finished to read the comics and I love it more and more ! This is a real masterpiece ! I'm just a little disappointed by the Before Watchmen series. Oh and my favorite is Dr Manhattan ! #watchmen#watchmencomic#watchmenmovie#watchmenfilm#whowatchthewatchmen
Happy 49th birthday to Billy Crudup, pictured in compositions shots of his performance as Doctor Manhattan in Zack Snyder's stunning adaptation of Watchmen. This guy is a phenomenal actor and gave an amazing performance as the emotionally detached physical God who can materialize and create anything but some damn clothes. While I like her performance in this year's Alien: Covenant, who else thought that character was a fucking moron? I mean really. He is set to portray Barry Allen's (The Flash) father in Justice League this fall, making him another Watchmen alumni to join the DC Extended Universe following Jeffery Dean Morgan, Carla Gugino and Patrick Wilson. Besides that, many wishes. #billycrudup#greatactors#inventingtheabbots#almostfamous#bigfish#watchmenmovie#publicenemies#aliencovenant#gypsy
Watchmen (2009) is a movie directed by Zach Snyder and is the cinematic adaptation of the a claimed DC Watchmen graphic Novel.
Watchmen (2009) tells the story of a group of retired superheros trying to discover the culprit of murdering Edward Blake, aka The Comedian, aka “I’m Negan!”. As they go deeper in the investigation, a bigger plot is revealed and the lives of millions can be in danger.
Concentrating a 12 issue graphic novel in one movie is very ambitious, but i think Snyder made it as good as could ever be. I feel this is a very underrated movie, it’s very entertaining and closed as possible to the source material as possible, taking only the parts that wouldn’t change much of the story and the philosophy, and the changes made, for me, were smart. Of course i would have preferred the movie to have been divided in two parts, three hours of character deconstruction and analysis is too much. Some key moments felt very rushed due to the time constriction, specially the Mars scene. The fighting was awesome and very well choreographed, they made the R rating count
in the movie.
Jackie Haley stole the spotlight in the movie. His Batbale like voice was a perfect fit to the deep and heavy noir feel of the movie. Even with a mask on, Jackie was able to display a lot of emotion.
Jeffrey Morgan capture perfectly the essence of The Comedian, a lunatic killer that views his mad world as a big joke. He was even able to get some sympathy to this character, something a didn’t feel in the movie. Malin Åkerman and Patrick Wilson chemistry was okay, I feel the comic made a better job. Billy Crudup as Dr. Manhattan was a good casting, I feel he was a good Dr. Manhattan.
Now, Matthew Goode as Ozymandias, I feel a bit divided in this one. I didn’t dislike his portrayal of Veidt, but the comics Veidt was subtle, likable and more down to earth guy. In the movie, he was played more like a normal cold, lunatic, enterprise man. Classy, but with crazy piercing eyes.
I totally recommend watching Watchmen in blu-ray, it’s very colourful, gorgeous and artistic movie. A must watch.
