'Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.' 'Does it hurt?' asked the Rabbit. 'Sometimes,' said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. 'When you are Real you don't mind being hurt.' 'Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,' he asked, 'or bit by bit?' 'It doesn't happen all at once,' said the Skin Horse. 'You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.” .

Watercolors on Canson paper
Slowly going back to my groove. I bought this book 2 months ago before the BIG move but I haven’t really read it until today. I love how Jenna @monvoirco explained everything (even the complicated stuff) in a very basic and simple way. 💕#everydaywatercolor Day 1
A few days ago, I made a flip-through of my diary-thus-far—it’s in the Highlights of my profile. Here’s an entry from last week I’m only getting around to posting now because a) really cloudy soul-brain, and b) lazy re blurring emotional diarrhea on the pages. That said: this facsimile of Geoffrey Kibby’s guide to the Phaeolepiota aurea was fun to do not least because he annotated it with, “Edible, but poor; not recommended,” which amuses me to no end. (“K lang, pero di masarap.”) [PS: You’ve left some lovely comments here and in my DMs of late, and I’ll get to replying to them—thank you, yet again, for the warmth and the sweetness.]

In the first section, you will find practical advice on choosing the necessary tools and equiopment as well as hints on mixing colorsâ?¬â? one of the trickier skills to master until you have learned some of the basic properties of color. Next, the techniques used in watercolor painting are explained in detail, from the most basic like laying washes and reserving highlights to some of the more unusual and exciting methods like wax-resist or spattering paint.
Tutorials and more than 100 step-by-step sequences demonstrate how to paint a wide range of subjects, including landscapes, buildings, people and still life. Over 180,000 copies sold worldwide.
Looking from outside into an open window one never sees as much as when one looks through a closed window.
There is nothing more profound, more mysterious, more pregnant, more insidious, more dazzling than a window lighted by a single candle.
What one can see out in the sunlight is always less interesting than what goes on behind a windowpane.
In that black or luminous square life lives, life dreams, life suffers.
Across the ocean of roofs I can see a middle-aged woman, her face already lined, who is forever bending over something and who never goes out.
Out of her face, her dress, and her gestures, out of practically nothing at all, I have made up this woman's story, or rather legend, and sometimes I tell it to myself and weep.
If it had been an old man I could have made up his just as well.
And I go to bed proud to have lived and to have suffered in some one besides myself.
Perhaps you will say "Are you sure that your story is the really one?"
But what does it matter what reality is outside myself, so long as it has helped me to live, to feel that I am, and what I am? -Charles Baudelaire

I love the warrior poses but this one was particularly challenging for me that all I could think of was f*ckf*ckf*ck! Hahahaha 🤣
So what happened to my original plan of following @worldwatercolorgroup's painting prompts for this month? Well, I gave up on it as I realized my head is not fit for prompts anymore. They're STILL a great idea though.
There was a reason she was
So romantic about the moon
It never asked her questions
Or begged for the answers
Nor did she ever have to prove herself to it
It was always just there--
Breathing, shining and in
