20th January 2018
Errol Spence Jr via KO
'The Truth' is real. Having just turned 28, he's still not even in his prime yet. Peterson is a strong, durable fighter but Spence Jr will be too quick, too strong and too precise for him. Spence Jr will grind Peterson down for a late stoppage victory.
Robert Easter Jr via Points
Robert Easter Jr is a freak at lightweight. Standing nearly 6ft tall, the American has a huge reach advantage and will be able to keep Fortuna at bay en route to a comfortable points win.
27th January 2018
Oleksandr Usyk via Points
The Cruiserweight showdown is a battle between two undefeated World champions fighting to unify their division. The fact the fight is in Briedis' hometown means the Latvian will be full of pride and won't go down without a fight. Unfortunately for him, Usyk is a very special talent and will win a clear but competitive decision.
Lucas Matthysse via KO
Both Matthysse (81% KO rate) and Kiram (74% KO rate) carry power. One has shown that power on the world stage whereas the other hasn't. This could quite easily turn into a shootout and the man known as 'The Machine' will come out on top.
Jorge Linares via Points
Linares is a slick boxer with huge talent. His opponent has only lost once and that was in a unanimous decision. Linares isn't a huge puncher but his boxing ability should be too much for Gesta who will give it his all but he won't be in the same class as Linares. Linares wins on points.
Lucas 'The Machine' Matthysse steps into the ring later this month against Thailand's Tewa Kiram for the vacant WBA Welterweight strap at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
Matthysse is known for his aggression and his tenacity but the man in the opposite corner is a relatively unknown quantity. It's Kiram's first foray on the world class scene so there's plenty of questions to be answered regarding his ability and durability at the top level.
The Thai fighter has one huge advantage in his favour; age. He is ten years younger than Matthysse and that could be a telling factor in the fight. A fighter such as Matthysse may be more vulnerable than most due to the amount of tough fights he's been in over the years and the wear and tear on his body.
There are many questions for both fighters so it's going to be an intriguing contest. The power is the last thing to leave a fighter and Matthysse has proven to possess very powerful hands so you can never write him off. The winner will open doors to massive fights in one of boxing's glamour divisions, whereas the loser may not have another chance at World level.
The welterweight bout is chief support for Jorge Linares' third defence of his WBA World Lightweight crown against Filipino Mercito Gesta.
Linares is a three-weight World champion having won his first World championship over a decade ago. But the Venezuelan's star may be dwindling as he managed to scrape a razor-thin split decision victory against 2012 Olympic Gold winner Luke Campbell in his last outing.
This is Gesta's second opportunity at a World title having lost to Miguel Vazquez in pursuit of the IBF belt back in 2012. Since then, he's only fought 6 times in 5 years and the lack of activity may come back to haunt him.
Experience can be a huge factor in boxing and Jorge Linares has over a decades worth of experience at the top level so should be able to take care of his opponent and set up more lucrative fights in the future starting with a rematch against Campbell.
Errol " The Truth" Errol Spence Jr. (22-0-19) (86% KO ratio) is wiling to go up two weight division to challenge Mega Superstar Saul Canelo Alvares (49-1-2,34) (69% KO Ratio) in one of historic bouts if Canelo is willing to meet the demand.
It's a suicide mission to move up two weight divisions #errolspencejr#canelo#caneloalvarez#wbc#wbo#wba#boxing

Unknown // Tewa Kiram, fighting out of Buriram Thailand, travels to LA to fight for the WBA Welterweight Championship. In what is undoubtedly the most difficult task of the reletivley unknown fighters career, the 25 has disposed with ease of what has been put in front of him bosting a record of 38-0 with 28 KO’s. The number one Welterweight of Thailand & former PABA Welterweight Champion will be a heavy underdog going into his bout with famed Argentine power punched Lucas Matthysse but has assured should an opportunity arise to get Matthysse out of there early, he will not hesitate. Look for an all action shoot out on January 27th! #MatthysseKiram#TewaKiram#Thailand#WBA#GoldenBoyBoxing | #Round13Boxing
First chance to scribble this week. There really could only be one subject. "Let your smile change the world, but don't let the world change your smile"
Well......Your smile did change the world, but the world, despite all it tried to throw at you, certainly didn't change you.
Well played Cyrille, Sleep tight 👏😢 @WBA #WBA#RIPCyrille
The semi-finals of the inaugural World Boxing Super Series begin on the 27th January 2018 in Riga, Latvia. Home fighter Mairis Briedis puts his WBC Cruiserweight crown on the line against the WBO title holder, Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine.
Usyk is the favourite to not only win this semi final, but the whole tournament too. However, he faces a fellow undefeated world champion who will have huge support in front of his home fans. Briedis was able to feed off the energy of his vocal people when he defeated Mike Perez in the WBSS quarter finals. The location shouldn't phase Usyk though as he has been able to perform well on the road. Usyk won Olympic Gold in London, won the WBO crown in Poland, defended his title twice in the United States and most recently he beat Marco Huck in Germany to progress to the WBSS semi finals. The Ukrainian is an elite talent.
The conveyor belt of world class boxers from Ukraine is awash with talent. The Klitschko brothers may have cemented their name in the higher echelons of the sport but the new crop headed by Usyk and Vasyl Lomachenko are capable of leaving their own legacy. Usyk could be the undisputed champion in his division within a matter of months and Lomachenko is in the top half of every published pound-for-pound list. Additionally, there are the likes of Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Sergiy Derevyanchenko who are making plenty of noise in the Light Heavyweight and Middleweight divisions, respectively. Ukrainian boxing is in a healthy state.
In addition to unifying two belts in the division, the winner will progress to the finals of the tournament where they will face either Cuban Yunier Dorticos or the Russian Murat Gassiev. The winner of the tournament will take home the Muhammad Ali Trophy and they will be the undisputed number one cruiserweight in the world.

Hpy bday…Constantine "Cus" D'Amato, born to an Italian family in th Bronx, January 17, 1908, in my view th BEST boxing manager/trainer in history . Ths man was th makings of world Champs , & also in my opinion th trainer of th BEST boxer in history , Mike Tyson who went on to become the youngest heavy weight champ in history. Also handled th former youngest heavy weight champion and the 2nd youngest heavy weight champ in history, Floyd Patterson. Also under his belt was José Torres; who all went on to become members of the IBF hall of fame
Several succe$$ful boxing trainers, including Teddy Atlas, Kevin Rooney, and Joe Fariello, were tutored by D'Amato. He was a proponent of the peek-a-boo style of boxing, in which th fighter holds his gloves close to his cheeks and pulls his arms tight against his torso. Th $$tyle WZ criticized by some because it was believed that a legitimate attack could not be launched from it. Boy, where thy wrong. JZ ask Iron Mike
In 1933 he opened the Empire Sporting Club with Jack Barrow at the Gramercy Gym. D'Amato lived in the gym fo years. According to D'Amato, he spent his time at th gym waiting for a "champion," but his best fighters would routinely be poached by "connected" managers. .
D'Amato also confronted boxing politics and decided, along with his friend Howard Cosell, to thwart th IBC of NY.
Under Cus's tutelage, Floyd Patterson captured th Olympic middleweight gold medal in th 1952 Helsinki games. D'Amato thn guided Patterson through th professional ranks, maneuvering Patterson into fighting fo th title vacated by Rocky Marciano.
Today we CELEBRATE..
