When @brendanbfit says jump, you jump ✌🏼I have always been terrified of box jumps. I didn’t want to take the chance of falling and breaking my hand or leg or teeth. Anytime it was part of a workout, I‘d always choose step ups instead. Today was a big step (jump? hah) for me towards overcoming my fears and achieving things I never thought I’d be able to do - next up, double unders 😬

Meet Alexandra (@dancinggingeralex), one of your new CrossFit Coaches 👋👋
A bit about Alex: Alexandra found CrossFit in 2012 and was instantly hooked. Growing up as a dancer💃🏼, she loves challenging her body in different ways and loves the CrossFit community. She received her Level 1 certification in 2013 when she moved from California to New York🏙. In addition to her L1 Alexandra has her 200HR Yoga and Mat Pilates certification, is CrossFit Kids certified and has her FRC certification. Alexandra is just as passionate about food and nutrition as she is fitness🥙💪. That's why in 2014 she started her own business, Dancing Ginger, as a health coach and personal chef. When she isn't in a kitchen, dance studio or gym she can be found... sleeping... or at home with her husband and two cats relaxing.❤️ #weareicenyc#bemorehuman
First post of the new year and first big lift post eye surgery! PRed in my 3RM of my thruster with 83lbs. I broke that parallel reeaaaalll good (pay no mind to my poor power clean lol). I’m almost 6 months into my Crossfit journey and I’m looking back to when 55lbs was the most I could handle. 2018 is a new chance to get even stronger. You in?

🎉2018 is going to be a year of community, strength, commitment, and perseverance🎉. It’s going to be a year of Partner WOD Saturday’s, Hero WOD PRs, tedious skill work, ripped hands and calloused palms, breaking parallel, “ICE on 3... 1,2,3 ICE”, and chatting over PVC pipes before class. It’s going to be a year of EMOMs, AMRAPs, regional workout throwbacks, and silly IG stories. It’s going to be a year of improved mobility, increased strength, setbacks and leaps forward, mental toughness, and fun. 2018 is our year ICE NYC: to get stronger physically, mentally, emotionally, all in the love and company of our community. Photo 1: 9/11/17 photo 2: 12/20/17. Three months is what it takes to notice the changes. Focusing on what I gained here: mass, definition, strength, and confidence. What did I do? It wasn’t a secret pill, diet, etc. I got serious and did what we all know but don’t like to admit: worked out and ate right.
1. I began to make sure i ate more healthy and really paid attention to what i put in my body. Since I’m so busy I started a meal service that delivered me tasty and healthy meals. This helped me find some things I never thought I’d like (i.e. parsnip fries) (thanks @kettlebellkitchen)
2. I was serious about working out. I would work out 4-6 days a week. Don’t get me wrong I had many days where I was tired or felt a little sick, but those days i pushed through. The only days I didn’t work out were rest and deathly sick days.
3. I didn’t restrict myself! This means yes i had a cookie/wine/takis here and there. Me not restricting myself helped me stay on track because I didn’t feel “limited”.
Sending these two beautiful people off to LA. @squeeze_jay and @katieritzsmiles we will miss you so much!! CJ- you have been an amazing coach. I’m a better athlete because of you and I can’t thank you enough for all the positivity you added to my life. I’ll miss you but I know we will both end up in the same coast soon! So I’ll see you on the flip side :)
